Father and son are going to face off again.
Los Alamitos’ John Barnes and his son, Brian Barnes of Tesoro, have been selected as the coaches for the 50th Brea Lions Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game on July 10 at Orange Coast College.
The announcement was made Monday night at the National Football Foundation’s scholar-athlete awards banquet in Anaheim.
In the fall, Brian Barnes’ Titans defeated John Barnes’ Griffins, 23-7, in the first round of the Pac-5 Division playoffs. Tesoro went onto reach the Pac-5 Division finals. Brian Barnes was selected The Register’s coach of the year.
This will be John Barnes’ third time coaching in the game. He guided the North to a 17-17 in 1989 and an 18-13 victory in 2005.
