Boys soccer playoffs: Santa Ana advances to CIF finals

Thanks to some standout work by goalkeeper Christian Lara, the Santa Ana boys soccer team is headed to the CIF-SS Division II finals.
Lara made several game-saving saves in regulation, with the Saints playing a man down, and came with another save in penalty kicks to lead the Saints to the victory, 3-1 on penalty kicks.
Santa Ana will face Valencia in the finals either Friday or Saturday at a site to be determined

We are taking the Championship!!!!!! Valencia is a tough opponent but SAHS has a defense that is rock solid. Hope Valencia is preparing for a shocker….SAHS’s morale is through the roof.
All I have to say is that Santa Ana keeps on shutting people up. Yes, la habra played great against us but couldn’t score so you should quit crying and accept the loss. And if it was a fluke, how come we did it again today against another great team like Bell Gardens. Hats off to them they played great but give us some credit to play more than 70 minutes with 10 players is not easy at all. But we stood our ground and came away with a great victory. GO SAINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at the game and all i could say was that santa ana got extremely lucky, Bell gardens forwards had atleast 6 EASY chances to score but they couldnt finish. Anyway, congratz santa ana n good look in the final

jp69 for ur information we only lost to cypress, and so we lost to Troy and Esperanza who were both ranked pretty high in the top 10, but we got better and thats why were in the finals. Everyone else stop talking shit on each other anything can happen in the finals so dont be so cocky.

honestly people, any team who wins four straight games in division II deserves some credit and respect. call it luck call it whatever you want but the fact of the matter is they are in the final. both these teams have beaten significant powerhouses and neither one got a free pass to the championship game. both teams have battled it out through a long season and deserve to be there. my respect to both programs. santa ana has 18 years since they’ve been to the final and for valencia it’s the first time in history, so it is a big game for both. throw away all the records and past games, come game day, its a whole new story. its gonna come down to who wants it more. im definitely pulling for my brothers in santa ana. those boys have been through a roller coaster this year and they have overcome adversity. they really deserve this championship. it may not be pretty but its working. keep doing what your doing fellas. and for the people talking smack, get over it. beautiful or ugly, they are there. as long they are not cheating, there is no reason to complain. good luck to both teams though, let the best team win. LETS GET IT SAINTS!!!

This will be a pretty weak final. The only thing that could have made it worse is sunny hills being there as well. Then it could have been final between two anti-soccer playing teams.

Wow bunch of haters out there. All I know is this our record is 22-4-1, we are not a fluke team, we beat tough opponents to get here so all you haters better shut up and quit complaining about this being a weak cif finals, its not our fault your teams choke when it came to playoffs. Defense wins championships and that’s how we will win this game.

Valencia is a good team and should win this final comfortably. Santa Ana deserves its credit making it this far. Goes to show how a team with belief and a lucky streak can get to the finals and win a championship in any sport. LUCK is a critical factor in any championship run. Good luck to both sides but I’m thinking Valencia at least 2 0
