Canyon takes it by 11 against Nogales, they are going all the way!!!!!
Again you guys have Canyon in just a box score.. The kids have won 17 in a row and all you can do is kiss up to the Monarchs. For writers who are supposed to be non-biased, “LOL” you guys go out of the way to bury them either in the Register or this Forum. These kids have given it all every night and have layed it on the floor for 17 games in a row and not even a Headline tonight as they defeat on supposedly a neutral court (this was the furthest thing from a neutral court), a very good Nogales team.
I say bring back the old Orange Co. edition of the Times. They never had a problem giving all the kids fair treatment in their Sports pages. There’s only one more game and of course you can’t bury us now because you have to kiss up to another Trinity Leaguer. Santa Margarita. Do the right thing OC Varsity and give the Comanches their due!
Semi-final games are not meant to be on neutral courts. They are alternate sites, which means the home team does not practice there. Canyon played Colony at Villa Park HS 3 years ago in the same situation. Winning on the road in a hostile gym does make Canyon’s accomplishment even more impresive tonight. Congratulations to the coaches, players and the Comanche family!!
Redmen 70,
OC varsity does a great job at covering other teams! they were at the MD-Etiwanda game, the Tesoro-Santa Monica game, and the Ocean View game. and covered all three. They are a business, a newspaper it is their jobs to cover the stories that everyone wants to hear about! Dont you think if OCVarsity DIDNT give that much coverage to the #1 team in the NATION that happens to be in their own county, that people would think there was something a little wrong going on here?
But besides that, they cover everyone. Bottom line. I use to website every day and i feel very well informed on whats goin on in OC by the time im done.
Hey Landon, how do you know what the stories are that everyone wants to hear. You obviously do not know what’s going on in OC basketball by the fact that you bring up Oceanview. I love Jimmy Harris and ratings should never be a popularity contest nor a personal issue that someone has against a particular school but check out who Oceanview has beaten. Yet they are still ranked above Sonora and Tesoro and Canyon. Why? They play in a weak league. Yet they get the article more than 50% of the time.
Here’s 3 examples of why everyone who’s a H.S. Hoops fan except you Landon would want to hear about Canyon’s 2 big wins first at the North South Challenge defeating an undefeated HB team 9-0 at the time and in the Orange Holiday Classic defeating an 11-0 overrated DH team.
Then we open the season at Brea with all kinds of articles on the big kid Caudill and Galluccio runs rings around him and drops 24 with the Comanches winning easily.
This example is not even of Canyon but of Oh Lu………They come off (mind you they had except inleague a much weaker schedule this season especially in their CIF games) but hand it to the #3 Lancers they had a big year. Yet when they lose their Qtr. final game the other night to Chaminade there was not even a comma or syllable mentioned about that team Not even a box score. Like they were snatched up by Aliens.
In all 3 of these examples not a syllable was written. WHY?
