MARINA (23-6) VS. THOUSAND OAKS (27-2)

Outlook: Marina finished second in the Sunset League, then in the playoffs beat Righetti of Santa Maria, 57-49, in the first round; Patriot of Riverside, 50-48, in the second round; and Huntington Beach, 71-70, in the quarterfinals. Garrett James, 5-11 senior, scored 31 points against Huntington Beach, with six 3-pointers. Brendan Holmes, a 6-1 junior, scored 18, including eight in the fourth quarter, against Huntington. Thousand Oaks went into the playoffs as the division’s top-seeded team. In the playoffs, the Lancers beat Canyon of Canyon Country, 69-41, in the first round; Buena of Ventura, 71-54, in the second round; and Edison, 62-45, in the quarterfinals. They have won 17 in a row. Thousand Oaks lost by three points to Santa Margarita in December.
