What didn't happen?: That's the question I'm asking after this wild one. El Toro survived with a 3-2 overtime victory against Marina in the CIF-SS Division I girls soccer second round playoffs Tuesday at Marina High.

The Vikings scored twice in the final six minutes, including a goal from Mariah Noguiera with less than 10 seconds to play.

El Toro led 2-0 at halftime.

Records: El Toro 17-4-2; Marina 11-10-5

Who scored: El Toro grabbed a 2-0 first half lead on goals from Flecia Franco and Emily Goldstein in the final five minutes of the half.

The Chargers held Marina in check for the most part, but the Vikings weren't done yet.

With six minutes remaining, Kirsten Marony struck to cut the defict to 2-1. Then the dramactic happened.

Noguiera broke free in the box and beat the keeper far post to even the game at 2. The ref blew the whistle on the first touch on the kick off.

However, about four minutes into the first overtime, Brooke Ellison headed in a corner kick for the golden goal.

Impact: It was El Toro's 10th straight victory and it has the team feeling sky high. The loss ends Marina's season and the career of Stanford bound Noguiera. She was so close to the dream situation playing out, but the reversal in emotion was tough.

High five to ...: Marina's Shauna Salcido. Salcido's defense broke up a couple great opportunities for El Toro. She was able to get a foot on one cross in the first half, which was huge because the girl was unmarked in front of net. She's just a sophomore, and with freshman Raquel Rosas in the back, the Vikings have a solid foundation for years to come.
