How are the Divisions set up? Why would Mater Dei be Div 1 while Santa Margarita is Div 3 and they play in the same league.

You should look out for brea. not top 10 but could beat any of these teams. lost 2 starters.

Mater Dei will lose in the quarter finals of CIF, and Capo Valley will lose in the semi's.

with TAGO KUEHN and EHLOW on the mound and with Dana Hills death role for a line up as a pitcher on the other team I would be scared of the damage these boys will inforce on you and 5 out of the top ten teams have already experienced it
Yes with those three on the mound and a solid relief setup Dana Hills will make a run at their league. The middle of their lineup also has alot of power and will produce a ton of runs. Everyone better watch out for these boys this year.
Sorry Wildcat, but Brea is in no way comparable to the listed teams. Villa Park or Tustin will domainte the century league with players like Fitzgerald, Beck, Sutherland, Harrison, or Richardson.
I think Wilson should be lower considering they lost their 2 superstars.
Capo Valley will dominate Mater Dei if they pitch Matsek

It will go down to the last week in the Villa Park-Canyon game on the last day of the season. It will be fun to watch.
I just think that the middle of the Villa Park order is too much for any pitcher to handle (Sutherland, Beck, Fitzgerald, Fessel) but it will be enterataining for sure. Canyon will need a heavy dose of Lewis.

I definitely agree with vanguard1, the heart of villa parks lineup is tough for any pitcher. known as the "Statue of LiberTHREE" or "Boston Three Party" (Sutherland, Fitzgerald, Beck)
These rankings are off to say the least. about 5 of those teams should be replaced. A lot of bias.

century league has pitchers. daniel warwick from villa park, lefty has good stuff. canyon got a new guy that throws low 90s supposively
Canyon has two returning all league pitchers, a new kid that throws 90+ and a 6 foot 9 junior coming into his second year on varsity.
I have seen the middle of Villa Park's lineup hit against Esperanza, and I was impressed. Canyon's pitchers better bring their A+ game. There's going to be a lot of fun games to watch in the Century League this year. Tustin's got some pretty good hitters too, I think that Canyon's going to have a tough year getting batters out.

Dana Hill n doubt should be in the top 10. They have the deepest most well rounded team in south coast league with a question. Tago, Ehlow, Kuehn, Powers-Davis, and Hsieh being the leaders on the mound along with power throughout the entire lineup. People always forget about defence but let me tell you dana hills is nails when it comes to defence with Anderson being the feild general. watch out for these kids this year.
El Modena has one pitcher, Austin Boyle, who is pretty wild. If he can become consistent this year, they may have a good year. Otherwise, Elmo really doesn't have any studs this year.

watchout for Edison! Keep an eye on Eric snyder a 5 tool player one of the best outfielders in california and he hits like a dream.
Mater Dei, Mater Dei, blah blah blah. I would love to see a first round loss. Mater Dei "Monarchs"...whose afraid of a butterfly? Lets be honest here. Just because people pay money to go to the school doesnt mean they should be paying to be in the top 10. With an economy so bad right now how can anyone afford to go there? Oh I forgot, all the scholarships go to the recruited athletes they get from around the county, state and country (the recruiting process starts usually around age 10 for OC residents). So much for scholarships for education, as if that is even taken seriously there. In my opinion they have no business being number one let alone in the top 10.

When it comes to league play Canyon will turn some heads. They got the 6'9 junior who can throw heat and also have returning player Zack Jones who can put up heat as well. Another pitcher too who had been ineligible the past year and can throw 90's. There htting will be key for them because that is one place they might show people wrong. Either way look for Canyon to be at the top of the century league and in the CIF playoffs for another year

rememeber you have the pitchers wright los alamitos, owens and heyer of edison and palmeter and strong of marina, any of the 3 could be league champs it will be a tight race
so ur saying that they have quality pitchers but yet jim trenton picks out one of them. thats 1 out of the 6 they have ecspecially one that is hurt. as long as u have the pitching to keep it a close game the offense will resond and the canyon team has a good enough offense to hit. I saw them in the loara tournament today and even though they lost, that team has talent. So jim trenton you cant judge on teams that you havent seen

Regarding the Century league... i don't think anyone should be concerned with the "statue of liberTHREE". Villa Park always seems to fall through under pressure. They have some talent but everyone is an I guy. They also lack pitching. I agree that El Mo isn't given the credit they deserve. the person who said they only have one pitcher is uninformed. Elmo's pitching is powerful. Chasen White, Austin Boyle, and Vince Payne all have potential to do damage as the starters. El Mo's relief pitching staff goes deep as well. Only time will tell...
Edison Soph. Henry Owens threw a no hitter going into the 7th inning against El Modena. Edison rolled on ELMO 8 to 1. with 5 all league returners and 7 of 9 starters coming back. we should definately be strong this year. our lineup is one of the strongest in CIF. Bring it.

There is a lot of talk here about Edison. They might end up being pretty good, but their players are undisciplined, and they whine when they make an out or don't get a call the way they want it. It is apparent that a lot of the talk on here is by people associated with Edison, maybe some parents, players or siblings, but I think that is classless and arrogant. Do something on the field before you run your mouth, and let your record do the talking for you. You are in a tough league this year. Everyone knows you have two horses on the hill, but they are the third and forth best pitchers in the league. Wright and Strong are better than Heyer and Owens. They have better stuff, they are more mature mentally, and they are more polished. Good luck Chargers. Take your inflated one-win ego and back up that big talk
To say Dana Hills is better than Capo in the South Coast is ignorant. Looks like Dana barely beat Trabuco and lost to Servite in Loara tourney. South Coast is tough, Dana should be happy to make CIF.
El Dorado may surprise some...... I watched them play Los Al Saturday and I was impressed.. Hard lineup to pitch to... 1 through 9 looked good.

watch out for marina 14 returning seniors a full pitching staff with paul strong at the top. they just took el toro to 9 innings. chad lewis, vinny ponce, pablo contreras, and jj baccari are scary in the middle of the lineup.

Dana Hills should not be in the top 10.. Villa Park ABSOLUTELY handled them 8-0. Lefty Chase Yamashiro dominated their lineup

Im not so sure that dana hills has that great of a team this year.
As i read below, the projected team villa park has a lot of talent and obviously more than dana hills beating them 8-0.
The least you can do from a number six team in the county is put up a run...Canyon seems to be struggling as well as other teams in the century league against other competitors.

Who knows though.
Elmo's austin boyle is their number 3 making them not so powerful if he isnt in the rotation. Along with his inconsistancy, elmo might struggle with lack of experience.
All this is politics.
Every year century league is able to fight against trinity league teams and come out strong.
Its ridiculous teams dont get ranked because they arent in an amazing league, even though they have more skill than recruited schools..
I may stand corrected. I have watched Edison play a twice since my last post, and they look alright. They play hard. The whole team left the field filthy. They are very aggressive and seem to be very smart. As for a prediction, I think Edison will win, but I think it will be a very close game. I believe it's Owen's turn to pitch, and if he pitched like he did at El Modena, they will win the game. It will be a fun game to watch. Everyone knows the Edison/Fountain Valley rivalry, and it isn't just in football. It should be a fun game, with both teams playing hard in a Sunset League preview from two teams who aren't really supposed to be in the hunt. Don't count out Los Al just yet. They have one of the best pitchers around in Wright, and just because they are 1-3 doesn't mean they aren't capable of winning the league. I saw Paul Strong and Race Parmenter throw, and they look to be very tough this year. I would have to say Marina is my favorite to win the league.
This saturday te game to watch is edison fountain valley. FV seems to be the surprise team this year and it should be a great matchup. FV has shown great potential but Edison has shown what they can do and i see them going deep in the playoffs with the best 1 and 2 pitching combo in the county. their whole line up can damage you but dont count out the young barons team. They may be young ut led by seniors Manzon and Osaki it could be a potential upset over their rival school Edison
I stand corrected. The edison FV game was an absolute slaughter and owens when out and threw a gem while FV's stud got lit up letting up 8 in four innings. Edison seems to be a much better team than everyone thinks even though ranked in the top ten, they are still underrated. FV on the other hand had its streak and will not fare in the ough sunset league. Im sorry to say but this may be a tough year for FV

El Dorado handled Los Alamitos and handled Beau easily. Take away the 2 run 1st and 2nd innings against Cypress and Eldo wins that one too. Eldo easily defeated Diamond Bar today 10-5. When Eldo hits they win. There is not a weak spot in their hitting line-up. Pitching is holding up well, also. Canyon and Villa Park better be looking over their shoulders.
fv is not gonna have a rough season
they have speed, and cause havoc on the basepaths. They are young and talented, dont count them out. Only 5 seniors the rest underclassmen. Watch out!
