
The regular season has come and gone, and now county teams will look to bring home a CIF championship.
Here is a look at this week’s girls soccer top 10 with explanations .
1. Esperanza (20-3-1; 8-2): Closed the Sunset League with six straight victories, outscoring their opposition 20-4.
2. San Clemente (21-4-1; 7-2-1): Three game league winning streak to end the regular season in which Tritons allowed only one goal.
3. Aliso Niguel (19-2-2; 7-2-1): Responded to 1-0 loss to San Clemente with a 3-1 victory over Capistrano Valley. It was the first time since Dec. 18th that the Wolverines have scored more than two goals.
4. Los Alamitos (17-3-5; 8-1-1): Five of the eight wins for the Sunset League champions were shut outs.
5. Mission Viejo (13-5-7; 7-2-1): Diablos lost a chance to win the South Coast League title outright by losing to Tesoro 1-0 in the league finale.
6. Mater Dei (12-3-5; 6-1-1): Four of their six league victories were by one goal.
7. El Toro (15-4-2; 8-2): Despite missing key players with injuries, the Sea View League co-champions will storm into the playoffs on the heels of eight straight wins.
8. Canyon (18-4-2; 9-0-1): The Comanches will go into the playoffs winners of nine straight and the Century League title for the second consecutive year.
9. Trabuco Hills (13-5-3; 7-1-2): Mustangs clinched a share of the Sea View League title by defeating Woodbridge 2-0 Friday. It is their first league title in soccer since 1994.
10. Marina (10-9-5; 5-4-1): A tie and 1-0 overtime lost to Los Alamitos and Esperanza respectively showed that this team can contend with the county’s elite.

11. Santa Margarita (10-8-6; 4-3-1); 12. Sunny Hills (20-3-3; 8-1-1); 13. Fullerton (15-5-4); 14. Pacifica (18-5-1; 9-1); 15. Huntington Beach (12-5-5; 4-3-3)
Are you telling me that Santa Ana Valley does not even land fall in the top 15. They have a perfect record of like 23-0-1 (not sure exactly). They are ranked # 1 in division 4. Have the top seed, have to counties leading scorer, and they don’t get a mention of any kind. I don’t care what league or division you’re in going undefeated and tying the then # 1 team in CIF has to get some recognition. I guarantee you they can beat some of the top 15 teams. They have a great offense, I know defense and goalkeeper is not the best but if you can score more than the other team, you win. Come on Jason give me your explanation to this. Do you even know they are undeafeted. Is there any other team in OC that did this. I think they should be around 7th. Give the lady Falcons some love.
