Though No. 3 Esperanza did not claim the coveted Sunset League title, they will enter the CIF-SS Division I playoffs riding the momentum from an overtime victory.

Senior Kylie Bono scored less than four minutes into the extra session, as the Aztecs defeated No. 10 Marina 1-0 Thursday evening at Esperanza High.

No. 4 Los Alamitos clinched the Sunset League title earlier in the day with a 3-1 victory over Edison.

The Aztecs (20-3-1; 8-2) will be the league’s second seed, while the Vikings (10-9-5; 5-4-1) will be the third seed.
