Girls soccer: Pacifica blanks Kennedy in Empire showdown

Sophomore Lauren Young and senior Cheyenne Brink tallied first-half goals, as Pacifica claimed the top spot in the Empire League by defeating Kennedy, 2-0, Thursday afternoon at Pacifica High.
With the win, the Mariners now improve to 13-4-3; 4-0; while the Fighting Irish fall to 10-6-2; 3-1.

Pacifica is benefiting from the loss of Hina and Vanessa Lilii. They are two of Kennedys top players, who had elected to sit out this year. This may be a new trend for top players, to just play club and not get hurt in High School.
I watched the game and Kennedy just does not have the muscle it used to have. The team just got pushed around.
It appears that Kennedy has 3 Premier players sitting out this year. The played week teams during the pre-season and may be all hype. There schools best player has commited to Long Beach State and is not even on the team.
Kennedy had an ok game aginst Pacifica This was a tough game. It looked to me that In the 1st half Pacifica out played Kennedy in the 2nd half it was Kennedy they just could not get it in the net. Several attempts just could not get in the back of the net.
U GUYS CAN DO IT WITHOUT THE TWO SISTERS THERE NO THREAT…
are you serious?? Come on people that first goal pacifica got was not that amazing the kennedy goalie slipped up.. how can you even call that destroying kennedy.. the two players, hina and vanessa, were never the top players and kennedy”s pre season was not all a hype. they played tesoro and mater dei.
The two lilii sisters are sitting out because one is being smart and taking french to get her needed classes for college. the other lilii is not playing because their father was upset that the youngest couldn’t play… Kennedy’s best player is committed to Long Beach State and is on the field and the leader boards.
Lets just look at facts…
If you talk to parents of both sides of the JFK vs. Pacifica game..they will tell you it was a tight game..JFK made a critical error and paid for it.
To say that the Kennedy preseason is weak..shows you have no idea…could be one of the toughest preseason schedules any D3 team faces…
Yes the Lilii sisters are not playing…
But the truth is, lets focus on the players who are playing now…
the team is doing well, in fact on a better pace than last year.
The players of this year deserve the attention.
