Girls Soccer: Thursday’s recap

In a busy day of girls soccer action from around the county, here is a look at some of the highlights.

In the Century League:

Brea Olinda 5, El Dorado 3: Senior Madison VanDine scored four goals, as the Wildcats (8-8-2, 2-1-1) handed the Golden Hawks (9-3-1, 1-1) their first league loss of the season at Brea Olinda High.

Canyon 1, El Modena 0: Senior Lauren Irwin tallied a first half goal, as the host Comanches (11-4-2, 2-0-1) shut out the Vanguards (7-8-2, 2-2) at Canyon High.

In the Empire League:

Valencia 2, Loara 0: Senior Amanda Chavez and freshman Nicole Milar scored goals, as the Tigers (4-10-2, 1-1) shut out the Saxons (1-8-2, 0-2) at Valencia High.

Kennedy 6, Katella 0: Senior Kirstin McCullough scored a hat trick and added three assists, as the Fighting Irish (9-5-2, 2-0) shut out the Knights at Kennedy High.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 1, La Habra 0: Senior Lauren Roblero scored the only goal of the game 30 minutes into the first half, as the Lancers (15-2-2, 3-0) slipped past the Highlanders (6-8-3, 0-2-1) at Sunny Hills High.

Troy 8, Buena Park 0: Juniors Lauren Eng, Lauren Mellano, and Lorin Wathen each scored two goals, as the Warriors (11-3-4, 1-1-1) dominated the Coyotes (4-6-2, 0-3) at Buena Park High.

In the Garden Grove League:

Santiago 2, Bolsa Grande 0: Juniors Geneva Alvarez and Mariela Martinez each scored second half goals, as the Cavaliers (5-3-3, 2-0) shut out the Matadores (1-8, 0-2) at Bolsa Grande High.

In the Golden West League:
Ocean View 1, Santa Ana 0:
Senior Brooke Hitchcock tallied a second half goal to guide the Seahawks (5-3-1, 1-0) over the Saints (5-3-1, 0-1) at Ocean View High.

In the Orange League:

Santa Ana Valley 6, Anaheim 2: Senior Osiris Ceja and freshman Diana Astdregla each scored twice, as the Falcons (15-0-1, 2-0) remained undefeated, beating the Colonists (6-3-2, 1-1) at Centennial Park in Santa Ana.

Savanna 4, Magnolia 1: Junior Aubree Wyer scored twice to lead the Rebels (13-3, 1-1) over the Sentinels (11-4-2, 1-1) at Savanna High.

Century 4, Western 3: Junior Lety Solis scored twice in the first half, as the Centurions (6-4, 1-1) held off the Pioneers (0-7, 0-2) at Western High.

In the Orange Coast League:
Costa Mesa 3, Calvary Chapel/Santa Ana 1:
Ayla Medina recorded a hat trick, as the Mustangs (7-5-6, 2-0-1) beat the Eagles (5-8-1, 1-1) at Estancia High.

In the Sea View League:
Northwood 3, Huntington Beach 0:
Sophomore Danielle Miller added two goals, while junior Carly Singer added a goal and an assist, as the Timberwolves (8-6-3, 3-0) won for the sixth straight time, shutting out the Oilers (8-3-3, 1-1-1) at Huntington Beach High.

In the South Coast League:

No. 1 San Clemente 3, Capistrano Valley 2: Senior Alexis Mahoney scored twice, as the Tritons (16-2-1, 2-0-1) held off the Cougars (12-5-1, 1-1-1) at San Clemente High.

No. 3 Aliso Niguel 0, No. 10 Tesoro 0: Wolverines junior goalie Kathleen Messinger stopped five shots, while senior Kristen Egner and sophomore MacKenzie Jones combined to stop seven shots, as the Wolverines (13-1-2, 1-1-1) and the Titans (5-3-8, 0-1-2) played to a draw at Aliso Niguel High.

No. 5 Mission Viejo 4, Dana Hills 1: Senior Lauren Matheson and sophomore Jessie Armes  each tallied a goal and an assist, as the host Diablos (8-3-7, 2-0-1) knocked off the Dolphins (6-8-1, 0-3).
In the Sunset League:

No. 2 Esperanza 2, Newport Harbor 1: Seniors Courtney Garcia and Kylie Bono scored goals, as the Aztecs (14-2-1, 2-1) edged the Sailors (3-9-1, 1-2) at Esperanza High.

No. 4 Los Alamitos 2, Fountain Valley 0: Senior Meguire Broersma and junior Kiley Godrey each scored goals, as the Griffins (12-2-4, 3-0) won their third straight league game, shutting out the Barons.

In the Trinity League:
Orange Lutheran 2, Rosary 0: Senior Emily Viviano scored a goal and had an assist, while fellow senior Missy Lazcano added another first half goal, as the Lancers (4-8-5, 2-0) won their third straight, knocking off the Royals (9-6-3, 0-3) at Orange Lutheran High.
