RELATED:
Pretty tough call here for O player of the year Wilkerson had a fantastic year as did Quezada, both are juniors and both are deserving of the honor but Hillman again had a fantastic year as he did last year he doesnt get the touches as the above mentioned players do but the touches he got were explosive and had a high rate of taking it to the zone and what speed if there was a player in the OC that could run with kid id like to know his name so congrats to Mr. Hillman and Mr. Arteaga for their honors as CIF players of the year on offense and defrnse both come from a great program La Habra High.
Nice to see a fair number of high school juniors on this list and those named are well deserved. Whadda ya think THHS fan?
It’s great to see some of the THHS players get the recognition they deserve. They had a tough year and made it farther than many expected. Great job guys!
congrads to our LA HABRA HIGHLANDERS can we 3peat chances or no but we will give it a shot go big BLUE
If we can repeat, it’s going to take several factors. But it’s possible. It’s going to take a lot of hard work.
The J.V team went 8-2 losing to a descent SC team and lost 8-6 to Fullerton’s JV.
The defense has five starters coming back and the offense has six.
Mazzotta somehow seems to reload not rebuild.
We will see.
As far as a repeat for La Habra they should easily repeat winning the Freeway League Fullerton lost alot of their team and really werent all that good anyway as for the whole division who knows one thing for sure is that they have experience and know how to win big question mark is the QB spot, but with Gonzales, Ghandour and a decent line they should be fine Trabuco Hills is gonna be tough but cant wait.
Way to go Josh Brannon on getting all CIF. You deserve it for what a great Career yo had at PaCIFica. Long Live the CRUNCHBUNCH.

Chew on this until Septmber 09′
Go Mustang’s!!!
What you should chew on is how many great blocks the Gonzales kid made on THHS defenders as Hillman and Nygren and Quezada ran wide all night long yes look at the stat and see the rushing yard complied by La Habra and you are right stats dont lie what did La Habra rush for 350 , 375 well they did because of great down field blocking and Gonzales was a BIG part of the rushing attack and ya know its really good to see that people in the know of the game recognize those things dont you agree, plus he was a solid receiver not as polished as a couple players but hes a junior and will improve at his route running but has great hands and knows how to block, again stats dont lie he was a very big part of La Habra beating the Mustangs because he knocked the hell out of their DB’s now chew on that as La Habra including ALL-CIF wideout Chris Gonzales go get fitted for their rings.
Hey bighsfootballfan,
We are not talking about Hillman, Nygren and Quezada’s stats here but since you brough it up watch the entire game film or you can see an exerpt on Youtube including the “phantom fumble”. In the Youtube video you see that Hillman runs a sweep right with nothing there ,then uses his speed to cut back left for 55 yards to score a TD. All speed he just flat outran the defense and he’s not ALL CIF? As for the rings, are the referees from the Citrus League getting fitted for their rings as well? Wonder why they have instant replay review in sports now? At the next level that play gets overturned. But what do you want with the geriatric referees you get these days.
Oh my bad Ronnie Hillman was offensive player of the year. Well deserved. He doenst get any blocking and to put up numbers like that! Fantastic!.
THHS FAN,
Please stop your whining about the game/fumble call. La Habra has a great program. You’re making THHS look like a bunch of cry babies, which I disagree. Referees and fumbles are part of the game, just as we witnessed when we played Western. Coach Negro told the media that we got a break. Learn to live with it.
La Habra showed and played with nothing but class. Ask our players and coaching staff.,,,,,,,
For the love of god quit already crying about the call, it was and still is a fumble THHS got beat the whiteout didnt work La Habra won FAIR and SQUARE its guys like you who give high school sports a bad rap the Mustangs were the 4th maybe 5th best team in the Southwest division and La Habra was the best they got through the toughest schedule on the road to the cjhampionship and Gonzales did knock the heck out of those subpar DB’s that THHS lined up and a big reason why Hillman and Quezada were name ALL-CIF was because of great blocking and alot of respect for the Gonzales kid receiving skills cmon you know better than why your implying without blocking downfield blocking things runs get stopped so again stoy whining youy big baby oh and by the way whos your daddy…………….La Habra!
Oh by the way I hear La Habra is celebrating again the CIF Championship with a parade Saturday the 17th in downtown La Habra and David Acevedo #28 who ran down then road the reciever to the 1 yard line then stripped the ball will be RIDING A MUSTANG AGAIN ha ha ha cmon by remember 4th and a foot with about 150 to go and THHS cant make it guess its the refs fault come to think of it every play that wasnt a sucess was the refs fault tell them mustang s to quit with that big addition to that school and invest in a weight room anfd a strenght coach cuz their weak bye for now
THHS FAN 2,
Hope to see you at the next Booster Board Meeting in February. We are tired of the 80/20 rule. See you then.
Just cant get over it huh THHSFAN you gotta learn to cope with the ups and downs maybe you should consider therapy instead of Booster meetings or join the other side put in your 30 day notice at your apartment and move to La Habra or even Tustin then maybe youll make to the finals boy am I like alot of us are laughing way too hard at you cmon one more big tear for us.
Not sure what you mean about 80/20 rule???? Sorry, won’t be at the meeting. Not a parent or a booster. Just a fan.
Trabuco Hills will be back in the hunt for an appearance deep in the CIF playoffs next year. Very well coached and some great size and athleticism.
bighsfootbaalfan,
Do you have a college degree from an accreditied university? No thanks we love the zip code we are in. Even with the Mello Roos. Keeps our city from looking like La Habra. True our school has been focusing too much on education to qualify as a California distinguished school. But what the hell it helped my daughter get into UCLA. Bad thing is when you make too $$$ you get no help so maybe if I changed my zip code to La Habra we can get a Cal Grant. Hey thanks for the tip!!
Sounds like sour grapes AGAIN if you would just accept that a loss is a loss then you would not be classified as a baby and we wouldnt laugh at you and if that school was such an educational institute then maybe your daughter would have gotten an academic scholarship but that is what is wrong with schools with too much money the parents let em slide by with the vaunted 2.0 then pay there way to a U so they can enjoy 13th and 14th grade instead of making room for the serious minded kids who really want to learn, like learning how to accept a loss in a competition with diginity and honor rather than whining and crying and not letting go so go to your booster meeting and enjoy 5th place because buddy 5th place is where you will be with your attitude now us on the other side will continue to laugh at U
hey bighsfootballfan . dude are you serious, 6in the morning. now your stirring up demographics and slurs, just go to the parade and leave thhs alone the seasons over.
Meeting must have been ran by the La Habra coach. They had last minute wins against El Dorado (no players) and Trabuco Hills (5 players). But they themselves had 14??? I understand when you when CIF u get more players but the LH/ED game that went down to the wire was 14 all cif players vs 0 and the game was close. ED must have incredible coaching.
When somebody accuses the CIF referees of being paid, bought, or influenced by anything else than what they cll or see happening in the field of play should be called out to all of you responding to what I wrote to THHSFAN that is what he is doing and I hope we all know that the refs do as good as they can they are human we all make judgement calls but it seems he is blantly blaming a loss to LHHS on the refs and Im not having it and to Century Fan yes ED does have fantastic program they recently won a championshiop are always competitive and the fans understand the game LHHS was called for 130 yards in penalities and probably should have been beat by a fine ED team but that didnt happen no refs were paid no cheating was involved and THHSFAN seems to think the whole playoff system was a sham well it wasnt and calling out the Gonzales kid isnt fair he made ALL-CIF on merits deemed by coaches of the whole division and I wont let him get away with that but look what thhsfan2 wrote to his cohort its great advise and he should congradulate LHHS on a great come from behind win against a tough team in both ED and THHS and Tustin their play on the field proved that they deserved all they accomplished and any honor thereafter.
To THHS Fan: California Distinguished School as in THHS having all of it’s students AP exam results overturned last summer?
If it isn’ the referees in football, it’s the umpires in baseball or the referees in soccer. Jeesh!
PS – As a wise man once told me, you can’t want it more than the kids.
True you can’t want it more than the kids, but you can give them direction and advice and hope that they get a level playing field to play on.
Yeah and it seems the direction you want to give and the great advise is that the reasons you got beat was because you were cheated out of it by factors you cant control, yeah thats great,S ever heard of SPORTMANSHIP, thats the advise you should be a advocate for, not some scandulous reasons your kids team didnt win, so my advise to you and my direction to you is smile be happy all the kids who participate stay healthy advocate the spirit of competition and at the end of the day you will feel better about yourself and others.
That’s right scandals never happen in sports or the Board Room or Wall Street. You are either smoking an illegal substance or have the benefit of a great Community College education. Sometimes the benefit of learning life isn’t fair at a young age will prepare these young athletes for the future adversities their bound to face later on in life. I have the luxury in my job for calling those people out. Wow 5:51AM? Someone needs to get a life and stop living vicariously through someone else’s kids.
You have the luxury, yeah right and for the time bonehead im the senior engineer who hires people like yourself and the community college students willing to work and earn their way in life go ahead try and teach all your in touch with that everything is scandulous from the board room to the playing field your insane and its sad you are in any way shape or form involed in team sports, plase please leave these kids to have fun and learn the spirit of competitionm and quit warning them of all the bad things you associate sports with if that is your stance then dont get involved we the fans dont need you or want you and always always remember La Habra won and you didnt and never will now back to laughing at U.
THHSFAN
Hey dude, La Habra isnt a crap school. I am a senior there currently and got into UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, and Arizona St., including academic scholarships to each. Sure, we may not have a nice campus, but that doesn’t mean we are all idiots. Why don’t you check out the stats of our AP calculus program and see how well succeed? You are just an arrogant and ignorant little whiner just because you lost a game of football. Oh boo hoo, its just a game. Just come back and beat La habra next year if trabuco hills is so amazing. You need to get over yourself and stop crying…
Remember in the La Habra/ ELDO Game when ELDO’s RB went out early in the 3rd, that’s when the wheels really fell off the cart for Eldo. He was running pretty wild on LH. They definitely went lookig for him.
The back up went in and fumbled his first touch.
Eldo must have thrown the ball to #11 at least 5 times for 0 that’s right 0 completions.
Eldo beat themselves in that game.
Again if they had their RB it probably would have been another outcome!
