ramiro sanchez placed much lower at estancia than atleast two or three county wrestlers at 119.
Lets put the grade of each kid. i.e (10)
give anthony lopez of saddleback sum credit for once he placed high at another tough tournament estancia his only loss is to sean datte hes good at 160 and he has beaten adam ortega bullcrap rankings
when did he beat Ortega, in the dual Lopez was at 189
lopez beat ortega over the summer and he would do it again given the chance hes alot better at 160 and he might tear it up if he drops to 52s
he beat ortega over the summer when he was out of shape and he will do it again at 160 now thats hes in even better shape its scary to imagine how he does if he drops to 52s
chris han of sonora should be ranked at 145 instead of nick peiriera or stuart lum and aaron lopez. he got 4th at brea and one match from placing at el dorado and toc losing to justin ibarren of santa fe by 1 point. he also beat antonio chaj of montebello who beat nick periera at mann classic.
nick lin of troy should be ranked insteadof wayde garcia at 135s he recently took 1st at this past weekends tounrmanent and took 6th at el dorado, 4th at brea. hes only lost to top notch guys
adam ortega should be ranked higher considering he took 4th at el dorado and pinned awad yassin of fountain valley
kevin mondragon should be ranked at 103s instead of anthony leonard of los alamitos
anthony lopez was also 1 away from placing at el dorado his 2 losses were to morgan macintosh and zach merril to guys ranked in state add that to his stats
Lopez is a tough kid.
He is right in there with that group.
regardless of his ranking he will be there when it matters.
yea i have to agree with u fuhs wrestler with chris han of sonora and nick lin of troy im surprised they arent ranked.... dont know about the others too much though
i saw the both of them wrestle at brea and el dorado they are both tough kids -only lost by point 2 point matches to state qualifying kids and got 4th at el dorado chris han only lost to brandon huxford who took 1st and the number 1 seed nick nelson of la costa canyon by 2 points who took 5th
but dont worry about these rankings too much all half these guys in the rankings wont even make it past cif
man are you serious who the heck is anthony lopez. so he placed at estancia big deal thats a fish tournament. rankings don't even mean anything and the best wrestlers know that. who cares over what a fourth or fifth rank in orange county?
da fuhs, nic pereira is better than whoever you talkin bout, he pins and knocks off every person that tries to get onto these rankings i.e. esperanza, edison, western. and anthony leonard is better than kevin mondragen homo.
da fuhs, nic pereira is better than whoever you talkin bout, he pins and knocks off every person that tries to get onto these rankings i.e. esperanza, edison, western. and anthony leonard is better than kevin mondragen.
Is Kevin Barton going to drop down to 19s this year? he tore it up last year.
5 counties is goin to determine who is who in this county.
look at at the 135 and 152s there gonna dramatically change anfter this tourniment just in time for the oc all-star matchups
It's too bad that Anthony Lopez from Saddleback dropped down to 160s. You might have been lucky enough to wrestle Alex Alcala from El Modena. You should have made sure you introduced yourself as the young man that was questioning his wrestling abilities.
Wondering why Nick Dzubnar not #2 in OC and why he wasn't asked to wrestle in the all-star match instead of Mike Maierhofer, Capistrano Valley? Dzubnar quickly pinned Maierhofer in the dual meet (head to head) and only has 1 loss on the entire year.
In the summer, are you kidding me, the summer doesent count. Who was the ref some 15 year old volunteer....the summer!!!
I think that.. Anthony Leonard is better than the people ranked above him...
Because maierhoffer got caught in a bad position
He only got pinned because of the head and arm dzunbar threw
Head and arms are a part of wrestling. We cant cay they dont count.
Most losses are when one guy gets caught in a bad position to either give up points or get pinned.
true, although I was explaining the quick pin and the reason maierhoffer is ranked higher than dzunbar
Go check out Santa Ana Vs Calvary Now there is a dual. For years these two teams battle toe to toe. One school wrestling since babies the other just street hard core. Learn how to wrestle by watching these guys, coached by the best and best of both worlds, technique and cojones. So you schools fighting about rankings and whos who, shut it and pay close attention at those who dont care if they are even seeded. Now lets wrestle! FG
I hear you on that one FG. I couldn't have said it better myself SANTA ANA vs CALVERY is the dual to watch. Santa Ana wrestles with pure heart and having cajones makes even better. The tuff streets of Santa Ana makes them tuff boys. GO SAINTS !!!!
I've been really surprised with CVHS and you would think they would have more rankings... I know they have Josh Neypes (130) with a very impressive winning streak and Brendan (119's) is also a very good, aggresive wrestler... they're 152's, Felipe M, is also pretty good from what I can see.
I cant believe Mission's 152 (Merritt) isn't ranked! He has pummeled almost all his competition!
Alex Anunciation the Sophmore 119 from Marina is the one to watch! He pinned Romero Sanchez from Santa Ana in the first round at FIVE COUNTIES!
SANTA ANA VS CALVARY is the match to watch. It is THE Classic. Calvary seems to have better wrestlers (they have wrestled since they were kids), but Santa Ana has demonstrated that it has what it takes: heart. Anyone could lose, Knowls or Rivera, if they get trapped and pinned. The winner will be the school who wants it the most.
If Temecula Valley and Laguna Hills dual that what be pretty good!
Yeah Maeirhoffer is good. I saw him wrestle the Woodbridge kid. One of the best 215 matches Ive seen.
bull shitttttt go saints
i dont believe octavio muniz is going 140s this year he has been wrestlin 152s for league and tournaments
anthony lopez is a good wrestler but it comes down to cif and master and then u will see how good he is.. last year he did nothing so no one knows him
I CANT WAIT FOR CALVERY-SANTA ANA.
CALVERY WILL MOVE ALL 3 OF THERE BIG GUYS UP 1 CLASS AND KNOWLES WILL DESTROY SANTA ANAS HEAVY LIKE HE DID LAST YEAR. MCINTOSH IS GOING TO BE 3 TIME STATE CHAMPION, MATTER OF FACT 3 GUYS ON THE CALVERY TEAM WILL PROBABLY WIN STATE BEFORE THEY GRADUATE.
Considering the available resources (or lack thereof) that Santa Ana has to work with, and the amount of money that calvary has, pound for pound Santa Ana has done much more with so much less and is fundamentally a superior team, and no I don;t have to yell to get my point across.
You do not say anything about wrestling for Dana Hill High School. You used to have article every Friday about the out come of wrestling on Thursday night from all the league. I only see articles on Laguna Hills and Calvery, what about the other schools.
Maybe there is someway for the wrestlers to vote for who they thinks should be there...
my turn is coming up
bestkarz, it could be true what you say about Tank defeating Santa Ana's 285 pounder. But what I find funny about Calvary, is MCINTOSH's age. I do not think that's fair competition. And I do agree with what Mat says. If both schools had the same resources and same environment, not changing their heart, I think Santa Ana would be dominating State, and maybe Nationals.
i used to wrestle and have seen many of these guys at tourneys for all those santa ana bashers just wait to your pretty white boys get tore up. all those years you spent investing in shoes, home mats, and usa wrestling cards don't compare to catching a fade at mile square or el salvador park. you take out some punches. and surround kids in a positive environment to train and you've created one of the greatest wrestling programs. hats off to the coaches who i've seen first hand change these kids lives.
How old is McIntosh? Did he repeat a grade? I think 18 should be the maximum age prior to graduation. If you're a 19 year old, you should be wrestling college.
i never said anything bad about santa ana wrestling, their a very good team ,MORGAN MCINTOSH is a great wrestler and his age has nothing to do with anything so bash someone else.
how many santa ana wrestlers placed 3rd or higher at 5 counties hitler, you cant win state if you cant place at 5 counties! as far as resourses go calvery is not a rich school and santa ana has way more kids to pick from.
bestjarz, I know you didn't say anything bad about Santa Ana. As I said, different variables come into play in today's world: some have more money and some have less, some live in a neighborhood where there are shootings every day and some don't. Reality is this: the world is not a fair place. Moving on, McIntosh's age does have a lot to do. How old is he? 18, from what I've heard many coaches from different schools say. Think critically and think right. I did not say that Santa Ana would win State this year, did I? I said that if the resources change, and the environment, except their hearts, Santa Ana could be State champions and probably National champions.
Yo OC Varsity:
You delete my post and allow a user name of Adolf Hitler?
Really?
Ps: I'm sure all of your Jewish readers are thrilled your selective editing.
And Mr. Tobolski: And what pray tell is by your definition "poor taste"
This user name doesn't qualify?
I would think with all of the noise being made about the Servite racists tounts, that a degree of sensitivity regarding someone using Adolf Hitler as a user name would be deleted and surely as you pulled the trigger on my analysis of the top few teams in boys soccer.
It's both lame and carries a double standard.

Maybe there is someway for the wrestlers to vote for who they thinks should be there…
I think many of the wrestlers would just vote for themselves and their teammates. The referees should maybe give some input since they're supposed to be objective, or at least I hope they would be.
mcintosh was held back 1 year as was half the great high school athletes in high school are now a days. if anyone whom knows can say he is not the most fundamently sound wrestler at 5 counties then they dont know wrestling! i dont have any kids there i just like seeing good technique wrestlers and hes the only one ive seen this year.
my son plays football at servite and what happened there last week was some ignorant group of kids acting like kids. none of the parents there condon what happened.as far as half of what fryer wrote it is not true, coach smith was not fired for that reason hes been my sons running coach prior to servite and i know its not the reason he was fired.
lets get this striaghtened out. Morgan Mcintosh is not 18. he is a normal aged sophmore. 15 or 16. He didnt get held back or anything.
as u can see calvary has always had the BIG name for wrestling forever. they have unbelievable coaches, just like santa ana. some of the top coaches around that have been through their program.
as far as people saying calvary has alot of money.
i agree they do......however it is a church first. the church gets the money to build/approve on the CHURCH not the skool.
every high school sports team at calvary does many fundraisers to raise money for gear, jerseys, etc, just like other schools such as santa ana and etc.
calvary's wrestling room is just a small part of a warehouse. its really nothing special. look at their baseball, football, and soccer all have to share the same field to practice at any time. its not that big of space. thats why the girls and guys soccer teams switch of by practicing at calvary and a local park across the street. as their baseball team they cannot play on that field. but practices thy must make sure all 3 levels get enough time on the 1 field.
i agree about santa ana about all they stuff if they had all the resources, and enviornment they would be amazing. they already are very very good.
but i just want to make sure u guys know that calvary does the exact same stuff other skools do to get money..by earning it. they do not get any money from the church. their athletics are separate. as far as the pastor at calvary, he thinks its a church first then a school. therefore, the majority of the money goes to the church, making the school earn their money by fundraising for their athletics.
I respect what u guys are saying. just thought u guys needed to know. santa ana and all the other skools out there are great programs for sports. they might not have the resources or enviornment, bt they can still have the heart to win like santa ana has had over the past decade or longer.
Its just pretty cool to watch a team like santa ana vs. a team like calvary face off every year.
its exciting to watch and its great wrestling. 2 different styles. but they both respect one another is the greatest part. year in and year out both teams are very classy. I cant wait to see it again.
Calvary has only 600 students enrolled in their high school. 200 are boys. very few kids to pick out for sports, so its very tough to have enough kids to play sports.they have very few, therfore, they cant cut anybody for sports, because they need bodies to fill the team. thats why some sports only ha jv and varsity. look at their football team they suited up 24 kids in their cif game against mayfair with over 90 kids. haha its suprised me to see their team knock off a very talented magnolia team in the beginning of the year and held their stud rb robert cruz to under 100 yards. its just fun to watch this school compete against big big schools, win or lose. no hard feeelings to st. margarets. they have a very very very talented team. unbelievable coach. but watching them win game after game after game and the majority of them being no contest kinda gets old. i rather see them compete like calvary and other some small schools against big schools such as magnolia, santa ana, segerstrom, etc. they need to get challenged. it gets old after they win win win win win, when u know they can compete in a lower division like calvary does.
knowing how many kids they have and how they still compete in Division 3 for most of the sports is amazing. some of their other sports are in a higher division.
heck, they should be in the same division as teams like sage hill, cvc, and all the other small schools.
just seeing how they compete against skools with 3,000 or 4,000 kids is very cool to see. knowing that the other schools have many kids to pick out of.
i cant wait to see all these schools battle it out. its going to be exciting
reply if u have any other questions about calvary as a school or church or anything u have a question on.
thankyou
calvary has a summer wrestling program for all kids, i am sure if they cant afford to pay calvary wont turn them away and if they do text me on this site and i will help the less fortunate be able to attend...
no more about santa ana they have 7 wrestlers in top 5 oc and only one made to sweet 16 at 5 counties how the heck can these rankings be right they need to be fixed i agree....
actually the have turned many kids from coming to this school. like i said, its faith first.
if the kids has a reputation for not making the right choices their not going to accept them.
they turned down many kids.
also they have also turned down kids because they do not have a big enough school to have them.
they always had have good athletes. David Nick all american baseball player at cypress. plays on the US baseball 18u team. already commited to ucla. went to calvary from 6th-8th grade. then went to cypress.
his little sister now a junior still goes to calvary. david still attends calvarys youth group almost every week for church.
elizabeth eddy. junior at newport. on the US national soccer team. went to calvary from 7th grade to her sophmore year then transfered to newport because her national coach said she wanted her to be playin against top opponents.
they have had many athletes that have left and this still have many skilled athletes that are still at the school. just like their wrestling program does. their summer program is well known. many kids attend it to learn. many top wrestlers around the county attend it. many of the kids on their squad has been wreslting for this team thunder since 2nd grade or above like Mcintosh, tank, and obourke. 2 of the three have had older brothers that already have wrestled at calvary. and some has been attending our school since 4h or 5th or even middle school.
why was he held back? is he really 15 or 16?
Calvary, I have a few questions for you: doesn't the team get money from the church, as little as it might be? don't calvary parents have higher incomes that those of santa ana's kids? You see, these are still variables that are into play. There is more flow of money into the program at calvary. In santa ana, parents sometimes have to sacrifice their lunch to feed their kids. Somehow they ended up on the bad side of life, not because they wanted to.
Who are some of the top kids in the county that have some MMA talent? Can anybody help me out with this? Do we have some prospects in this group? Let me know what's up fellas.
love to see each of their records. Do we know where C.I.F is going to be?
"like i said, its faith first." LOL..gladd Tony Aparico and Tino Archuleta had that in mind. They wherent turned away from Calvary. Can you tell me where are they now?!!!
Its ok to admit they only thing calvary has going is the wrestling team. I respect all CC coaches. Just dont like it when you compare both programs. CC has only developed 3-4 home grown kids. Everybody else was recruited. CC will always be a better program because of that. I'm proud of my santa ana boys always putting.
okay everyone who thinks that calvary is spelled calvery are wrong and calvary chapel does not have a lot of money so you are wrong in that opinion as well
and calvary doesn't recruit
CARLOS ARIAS!!!
yes ther is MMA talent in the county!!!
VICTOR CORTEZ, JULIO RIOS and JESUS AGUSTIN from
CENTURY high school in santa ana
do MMA during the summer and have undefeted records
