Teams You Might See In The Next Top 10: Century, Valencia, Marina; Team You Might Not See: Esperanza
Candidates for Athlete of the Week (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER):
1. Paul Elias, Mater Dei: The goalkeeper came up with two game-saving stops in the second half which preserved a scoreless tie for the Monarchs in Friday’s game against Trinity League rival Servite
2. Chris Alvear, Century: He had a goal and an assists in the Centurions’ upset of Mater Dei. According to Century coach Bruce Silverman, Alvear “He also did a phenomenal job controlling the midfield the entire
game.”
3. Tervor Hatchard, Marina: He scored two goals, including one in overtime,to help the Vikings upset Esperanza on Weddnesday.
4.Diego Garcia, Valencia: He scored the game-winner for the Tigers as the upset No. 10 Sunny Hills on Monday
5.Jake Mueller, Orange Lutheran: The goalie made several outstandings saves that helped the Lancers play to a 0-0 tie with Santa Ana on Wednesday.
Esperanza stay, Fountain valley should join, t. hills goes down. Marina will lose momentum for sure as well as valencia.
Waco, valencia has the most talented team it has had in years and they are all very excited for this year so i dont see the momentum dropping anytime soon the only thing that may bring them down is the loss of their home stadium field after the first league game this wednesday. Many people seem to be counting them out and they know they need to prove themselves in league.
waco… you are wacko!!! Esperanza is going or should be the first team to go… they lost to Marina (an unranked team) and just beat Edison and you want them to stay and Fountain Valley to join??? Nonsense… Mater Dei also be dropped out seeing as how they lost to Century. New teams should be Valencia, Marina and/or J Serra. By next week there will definitely be a solid group of performers seeing as how not all leagues started this last week.

You guys might wanna add Ernestoy Hinojosa 3 goals he scored in game you watched vs Laguna last week to increase his county leading tally to 17
knights!:
Thanks for your response and letting us know.
The stats have been updated and should be accurately reflected now.
Thanks.
1-Saddleback should remain at #1 until they lose – then re-evaluate.
2-El Toro should hang in at # 2 – same story as Saddleback.
3-Servite should drop a few spots after failing to beat MD at home. High expectations are not being met again this year.
4-LaHabra should drop a few spots – hard to believe their high octane offense came up scoreless against a weak Sonora team.
5-Troy should drop several spots and have to claw their way back up.
6-Trabuco Hills should move up a few spots based on LaHabra and Servite’s outcomes.
7-Mater Dei should drop out of the top 10 after losing to Century and a tie with Servite. Their future will have to be determined by putting some Ws in the win column.
8-Fullerton should move up a couple of spots this week after putting up a win over BP.
9-Esperanza should drop out and have to climb back by dominating play going forward. Otherwise they should stay on the outside looking in.
10-Sunny Hills should get some love – they have beaten Valencia and Troy so far, and losses have been to quality teams like La Habra and Valencia. They are well coached and very organized.
JSerra should not move up after giving up 3 goals in a tie with OLU who is having a down year. I predict JSerra will fall from grace during league – their Cinderella story is over.
Marina gets props for beating Espy – but no way should be in the top 10.
Valencia and Sunny Hills should be higher up
Valencia should replace Fullerton being that they dominated them and fullerton has done well in one tournament? and makes it to the top 10 jserra should also not move ahead of valencia as valencia beat olu in a preseason scrimmage, or tied i dont remember
I know it must be hard for these guys to make the rankings as in no matter what they put everyone will have a criticism especially if their team is not up there but i am just throwing in my two cents
How about we shorten this list to the Top Five?
Now perhaps you have a meaningful list of some decent strong teams.
6 -10 (really?). The degree of separation just isn’t that great. Nor is it meaningful.
Can I suggest a number 6? (enter Servite here)
Jserra should join, if they can get two wins at the end of this week.
#1 and #2 are solid.
Marina will lose momentum, wait til end of week 2 and they will be back to the inconsistency that has plagued that program.
But back to JSerra, when are they going to be watched by a writer for the register? Every week they say they are going to watch them play, but still no love. They deserve it with the talented West Coast fc premier players they have. It would be good to see them finish in top 2 spots of Trinity. If Hudnal, Gutierrez, Morales, and Dall Orso (Who are all Juniors and Sophmores) play their game, they are untouchable.
Troy has been playing very well all season, they shouldn’t be marked down by a loss to a good team on a PK, kudos to them on their season so far.
Esperanza will, yes, mark my words, will be back to their winning ways, especially when Austyn Smythe (center mid), Jerrod Stith (Keeper) Andrew Bristow (Defense), and Michael Rossi (Defense) who are all premier players, all Top seniors but Stith( a junor), are all back into their solid ways of playing great physical soccer. It will be interesting to see how the Sunset and Trinity leagues play out.
Trabuco hills shouldn’t move up, they have to start winning games first, especially after getting dominated and shutout by Esperanza when Trabuco hills had home field advantage back in December.
Pundit – how would rank them at this point then? My take:
1. Saddleback
2. El Toro
3. Trabuco Hills
4. Fullerton
5. Servite
6. La Habra
7. Valencia
8. Sunny Hills
9. Troy
10.Century
What say you?
FreeKick: What part of reducing the team ranking to five teams did you not understand? By my count, you have ten teams listed.
FreeKick: What part of my suggestion to reduce the team ranking to five teams did you not understand?
By my count, you have ten teams listed.
When you placed Servite at spot #6 you already violated your own suggestion. Since you can’t even follow your own advice why should I feel bound by it? You failed to place the teams in rank order – why not just put it out there for everyone to see? I did already – the ball is in your half of the pitch now…….
