We're continuing the look at the top players in each class in the county. Today we look at the top 10 freshmen.
These lists have been compiled based on my observations and input from coaches and longtime soccer observers here in the county.
Do you agree with my picks? Do you disagree? Let me know what you think ... and check back later in the season to see if these players finished the season as clearly the best in their class.
Top 10 O.C. Freshmen
Eichelberger's Comment: With youthful exuberance and raw talent, these county newcomers made a big splash through the first month of the season and could make big impacts in their first season of county competitions.
• Devin Barrett (Mater Dei): Tied for the Monarchs' team lead in goals.
• Lauren Benner (Aliso Niguel): Has scored three goals, including game winner in Mater Dei Premier Invitational title game.
• Tayler Dragoo (Rosary): Two hat tricks this season; 11 goals overall are best among all freshman.
• Heather Flores (Estancia): Leading the Eagles with seven goals.

one change
Taylor Alderette from Canyon high. see her play and you know why.
blazing speed and can get by defenders and the best part she can finish
2 goals from Taylor reflected on the stats do not match up to the rest.
What about Tara Kracy of La Habra? Go check her out
What about the National pool player at Capo Valley, Katie Perry has shown with her ability to lead a team to a championship. Mark my words. Capo over Aliso.
Hey Jason,
I believe that Aubrey Baker was overlooked from the #8 team in the county - Trabuco Hills. Second on the team in scoring with 5 goals and leads the team with assists (4). Just my opinion.
Eric
I agree with Darren Smith Katie Perry is amazing with the ball but she is a sohpmore. And I believe there are some amazing Freshman defenders that never get recognized for there hard work. Gianna Lowery and Rebekah Foreman are the starting center defenders on Capo and they have only about 5 or 6 goals against and I believe Defense doesn't get enough credit for all their work. Also Danielle Weatherholt and janae Cousineau from San Clemente. All those girls play for the Blues U15 and everytime we play them they slaughter my team that team has an all around amazing team every player gives a lot to the team with their hardwork. I give those girls credit.

Taylor Alderete is an amazing freshmen like the paper said she is a STUD and thats true her stats look like they havent been updated becasue she had a fantastic game against Foothil and is still bringing the heat. She scored one goal and assisted the two last goals. She is sure to be a big factor in their next game against Tustin.
Yes I agree that Taylor Alderete is a "good" soccer player, but not that amazing yet...give her a couple of years. Her family tho thinks much differently by their two comments. I completely agree with the comment by Kickitin.
Rebekah Foreman center defender on capo #20 deserves a looking she is the most consistant player. Wins every ball and is the smartest player I have ever seen with a ball for a girl she reads the game like non other she deserves a look. San Clemente vs. Capo ok Thursday she will bring everything and mainly heart. Also she is the captain of the so cal Blues u15 # 1 team in the state. Watch her
I agree with Bailey and the girl from West Coast!!! Rebekah Foreman is an amazing hard worker that deserves a lot more credit since she is probably in most peoples eyes the Best Defender in the country!!! Trust me as a forward you do not want to be going up against her its frightening
Apparently, only scoring matters in the top 10 Freshman list. My suggestion change the name to Top 10 Freshman Scorers...where's the luv for midfielders, defenders and keepers? Maybe, next time....
I think Frank N Stein is right...Where's the love?
i agree with u Frank N Stein defenders and midfielders deserve a look at including goalies 2.
You over looked number 20, Rebekah Foreman at Capo Valley HS. Watched her play at Excalibur Tournament over holiday. Very skilled player, fast, and understands the game in the back. Only freshman I have seen running a back line. Could play at most Div. 1 schools today. Expect her to go big at D-1.
Check her out next time.
I agree with the coach comment I saw Rebekah also and she is amazing and the most consistant hard working player ever. I say big D-1 that girl has dreams and everystep she takes toward it is used with extremely hard work and love for the game.
Wow, Tonight we were lucky. Capo is the hardest team we have ever played they always bring a good game to us. I have to admit Rebekah #20 I have the biggest fear of going up against her. She will take the ball from me every time and it upsets me off but I am glad the ball is getting taken away by an amazing player. She worked her butt off and played that game so smart it was insane. You overlooked jher big time
