What happened: The No. 10 Lancers converted on a second-half penalty kick and held on for the 2-1 victory over visiting No. 5 Troy in Freeway League play Friday at Sunny Hills High. (read recap)
Sunny Hills led 1-0 at halftime.
Records: Sunny Hills (6-3, 1-0); Troy (9-1, 0-1)
How it looked: The Lancers started strong, evidenced by their goal in the opening 10 minutes of play.
Troy took a bit to warm up, but got it going soon enough. The teams traded missed chances the rest of the half.
The Warriors scored five minutes into the second half.
The penalty kick proved the difference.
Who scored: Anthony Lievanos scored the game’s first goal. His teammate mishit his shot, and the ball rolled to Lievanos, who put it in.
Troy’s Nicolas Corvini headed a cross in from Adrian Flores to make it 1-1.
The Lancers Sung Moon was fouled in the box and drew the penalty kick, which he made for the 2-1 lead with 20 minutes to play.
High-five to …: Lancers defender Chris Marvin. The senior didn’t do anything spectacular Friday, but he was solid and in the right spot many times. Had Marvin been off his game, this game could have ended differently.
