Recruiting flash: OLu’s Lemon headed to …

Orange Lutheran cornerback/wide receiver Gabe Lemon (5-10, 175) has committed to San Diego State, Lancers coach Jim Kunau said moments ago.

Lemon was recruited to play cornerback, Kunau said.

“I think it’s a great fit for him,” Kunau said of Lemon’s choice.

For first-year coach Brady Hoke and a rebuilding Aztecs program, Lemon is an excellent commitment.

He was first-team All-County as a junior at Trabuco Hills. He didn’t have the star-studded senior season but he’s a playmaker with great instincts and very good speed.

Lemon also was a big reason why Orange Lutheran’s defense was so good in ‘08.

And give it up for Coach Hoke. He battles in person today to keep La Habra’s Hillman committed and also visits Lemon at Orange Lutheran. Sounds like a coach motivated to make the Aztecs a stronger presence in county football.
