ORANGE LEAGUE PREVIEW

LEAGUE FAVORITE

Western: The Pioneers have not won a league championship in 17 years, but with Dalton Harbaugh leading the way, they could end that streak. Century and Magnolia might be their chief competition for the league’s top spot.

PROJECTED LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Dalton Harbaugh: He averaged 16 points a game last year. Harbaugh, a 6-foot-2 guard, was all-league last year, and since has added range to his outside shot.

OTHERS TO WATCH

Luis Anaya (Century, 5-9, Sr., G); Jude Erim (Western, 5-10, Jr., F); Irving Figueroa (Century, 6-2, Sr., F); Hayden Flores (6-2, Sr., F); Michael Hamilton (Western, 6-4, Sr., F); Robert Henry (Savanna, 5-10, Sr., G); John Lopez (Magnolia, 6-0, Sr., G); D’Shon Norris (Magnolia, 5-8, So., G); Nathan Williams (Magnolia, 6-2, Jr., G)

TEAM ON THE RISE

Magnolia: The Sentinels are starting an underclassmen-heavy lineup. They were in second place last year, and could repeat that or climb into first place this year.

TEAM UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Santa Ana Valley: After being at or near the top of the league for several years, the Falcons went 1-23 last year and might be in for a struggle this year, too.

TOP GAMES

Century at Western, Jan. 16; Western at Magnolia, Jan. 28; Magnolia at Century, Jan. 30

  • Coach says:

The Coaches from this league know each other well and know each teams pesonnel. So every night each team will have to be ready to play! Western should win the league with four very good players in:Hamilton, Soldana, Harbaugh, and Hammamoto!

True about coaches knowing each other well..but its not going to be easy for western to take it..the only team that can stop them is Century with Irving Figueroa , Luis Anaya and Johnny Sok

  • century grad says:

Century can definitely take it. They’ve got a hell of a player in irving Figueroa. This guy is a monster day in and day out when he steps onto the basketball court. He hustles unlike anyone you’ve seen and he can definitely score. In addition, he’s also a tremendous defensive player. Luis Anaya and Alex madrigal are really good shooters and they’ll need to step up big time. Juan Arellano is an X-factor for the centurions. This junior guard can also definitely shoot the ball very well from short range to long range. I’ve seen him he’s gonna be a huge factor and contributor for century. Other players such as Robert Yin, Johnny Sok, and Juan Arroyo will be key players who will need to contribute in order for century to be succesful. This team can certainly give western a run for it money and take the top spot. Only time will tell, but i certainly think the centurions are in for a great season.
