I would have to put two teams up on top. Foothill Boys Waterpolo and Mater Dei Basketball. They are both possibly the best teams in the country for their sport. But if I have to choose one I would lean towards Mater Dei Bball. They have NATIONAL competition that they are playing against from all over, and waterpolos best is certainly only in Cal. Therefore there is less competition for water polo. Hats off to both amazing teams.

to godiswatching:maybe the smchs girls vball person had someone messning with it to add extra votes(>500 votes does seem a bit improbable for a girls vball team), but MD boys basketball is RIDICULOUSLY good (and why would they choose to have significantly lower than the team with the most votes?). I dont doubt for a second that the number one team in the county, the state, and the entire country would have that many votes. they won the most prestigious hs bball tourney in the country, the city of palms classic. So really, there are a lot of dominant programs in OC but that is the only choice, no matter whta school you like the best.

and to the bighsfootballfan : great hs players flock to great programs. for example, the wear twins live in Huntington, perhaps 10 mins from MD. With their size and ability, of course they will come to the school who has the best coach and best bball program. that doesnt mean they were recruited. There are so many idiots who bash on mater dei because they say Md "recruits" all their good players. hate to break it to you , but players with great potential choose on their own to come to mater dei where they know they can develop into the best players they can and oftentimes D1 college athletes. Do you think Matt barkley would have chosen to go to newport harbor or CDM or sage (he lives in newport) where he would have had average facilities, coaches, and players and possible even subpar at CDM and sage to work with . No, obviously he would choose mater dei on his own where he could excel. So before you go spouting about recruiting all our players, think about what youre saying and about the logic. dont let emotion and jealousy drive you to sound like an idiot. no one ever has any evidence of this "recruiting" and i have heard stories told by servite students about mater dei practically paying kids to come play here that the servite students have been told, and fully believe to be true. as a mater dei student and athlete who is very familiar with these players and athletic program, i know these stories to be completely fabricated and quite frankly absurd.

so please, shut your mouths when you dont know what you are talking about

My oh my Louis its clear you have not seen the La Habra football team play for you to say a team like Poly would squash them is crazy the La Habra football program has grown into one of the best programs over the past 8 years and yes they would be as competitive against all the upper divisions which by the way is only one there enrollment keeps them out of that division not ther competivness, now getting back to the most dominant program for the 08-09 school year its a bit early to ask that but for now the girls volleyball team is impressive but there girls so my vote is for Tesoro football.

The poll/question is for this school year correct?

This school year that team is Mater Dei Boys Basketball. Quit your whining with the private vs public school issue, leave that for another discusssion.
this is about the most dominant program of the 2008-2009 school year.

La Habra Football? in their division yes, perhaps you have a point. tough to compare football teams as they have teams like poly that would squash a team like La Habra, Tesoro won all its games, but they did not dominate their opponents.

There is a huge difference in winning games and dominating their opponents.

Soccer? what is a typical win 2-1?
Volleyball? if they shut out an opponent in a match they score what 18 points?
Wrestling??? wrestling is not a team sport. the winner of a match gets points the loser gets less points you get points if you step on the mat and the other team does not have someone to wrestle. they add it all up and that how they determine a team win. please....

All you Homers stick to the question and vote honestly.
All you Santa Margarita girls volleyball players stop calling all your girlfriends to get them to vote.

I can't speak for anyone else, but SMCHS Girls' Volleyball had an amazing 2008 season, and have many supporters! Also, FOX Sports (FS) in its television broadcast of the CIF final against Mira Costa said that THAT match was the BEST Girls' VB match that they have EVER seen! And as you might know, FS broadcasts nationally... ?

Congratulations to MD Boys' Basketball and SM Girls' Volleyball.
Someone on your team knows how to add up the tallies multiple times on the same computer. Cheap Shot. Hopefully that's not how you play ball.
Isn't that a sin?
How many Hail Marys?
Sunday Confession?
