Just a freshman, everytime Taylor Alderete touches the ball Canyon coach Walter Camargo describes it as “magic.”

“Everytime she touches the ball, I feel like we can score,” he said.

Alderete didn’t disappoint in a 3-1 victory over Foothill on Tuesday.

She scored her team’s lone goal of the first half, after beating her defender on the dribble then blasting her shot far post past the keeper.

Alderete assisted on both goals in the second half. Each time she dribbled deep into Foothill territory. Her speed and ball control makes defenses contend with her now. What about the next three years?

I can’t wait.
