OC Varsity ~ High school sports talk by the staff of the Orange County Register

Fullerton water polo player headed to Big West

January 7th, 2009, 11:49 pm · 4 Comments · posted by DAN ALBANO, ocvarsity.com

You ready for a sleeper recruit? Congrats to Long Beach State on receiving a commit on 6-foot-2 senior water polo player of Julie Lantz of Fullerton.

Indians coach Ian Markstrum said his standout center has committed to the 49ers and head coach Gavin Arroyo (Villa Park).

Long Beach State is certainly working hard in Orange County, and starting to see some results.

This comment has nothing to do with this article but I couldn't find anywhere else to comment but....

I can't believe the Los Al coach Carlson allowed his team to run up the score to 24-0 against Marina. What's up with that?

  • The Observer says:

Julie Lantz is a good player but could use her size a little better. There are quite a few players in the Freeway League that have performed better. Just an observation!

  • BigAlbanoFan says:

Carlson loves to bully around lesser programs..... but when was the last time he beat a big time girls program when it mattered.... Just an observation........

  • polomom says:

hey bigalbanofan...guess your observation is right on. that's exactly what he did...'bullied a lesser program'. hope he 'got' something out of it other than a display of poor sportsmanship! i always had respect for carlson. guess i better rethink that. just for the record...my daughter isn't on either team.
