(Records as of Jan. 7)

St. John Bosco (5-4) vs. No. 6 Santa Margarita (12-3)

Friday, 7:30 p.m. at St. John Bosco

Outlook: The Eagles graduated seven players from last year’s CIF State Division III championship team and another (Trayce Thompson) is playing baseball. So, how are things going?

The Eagles have won the Morro Bay Tournament and the Century Holiday Classic. They’re 12-3 and are ranked sixth in the county.

Rebuilding year? What rebuilding year?

You should never doubt coach Jerry DeBusk.

The Eagles have been led by seniors Daniel Munoz and Pat Moran. Munoz was MVP of the Morro Bay Tournament and Moran earned top honors at the Century Holiday Classic.

Now they’re faced with the task of carrying over their momentum in Trinity League play.

First up, is St. John Bosco.

Yes! SMHS has to stay focus. Munoz is consistent and intense, Moran, Hazeley and Dupre will also have to be on top of their game to contend with Orange Lutheran and the rest in the league. Mater Dei is in a league of its own.
