Capistrano Valley (11-5) vs. No. 10 Dana Hills (14-2)

Outlook: Welcome to the first Friday night of the South Coast League season.

Capistrano Valley went 9-1 last year to win the league title. Mission Viejo went undefeated two years ago.

That is probably not going to happen this year. One word of advice: Protect your home court. That should be the motto for every team in this league.

The Cougars suffered a setback Saturday when they lost to Servite. Capistrano Valley struggled from the field and made only two 3-pointers.

The Cougars are in need of a victory after also dropping a one-point losing to Huntington Beach Tuesday.

Casey James scored 17, but the Cougars got only four from Charles Pfirrmann. It doesn’t get any easier for the Cougars because Tesoro is on next.

The Dolphins started the season 11-0 before losing to Canyon in the first round of the Orange Holiday Classic.

The Dolphins rallied to win the consolation championship. However, they are also starting league after a loss.

Dana Hills lost to El Toro, 64-55, Tuesday.

Senior guard Erik Brown is averaging 15.3 points a game.
