This week marks the beginning of league play for many of the girls soccer teams in the county.
As fans look forward to the renewal of spirited rivalries, let’s not forget about the tournament and nonleague portion of the season, where many seasoned veterans and talented newcomers put on impressive performances.
Over the next couple days, I will take a grade by grade look at the 10 players who made strong early season impressions and are worth of keeping an eye as we move into 2009.
The list is based on personal observations and information supplied by various coaches and soccer insiders, and it is compiled in alphabetical order.
Is this an accurate representation of the best players in the county? Was a player overlooked?
O.C. fans are encouraged to give their opinions and check back here throughout the season to find their answers.
Top 10 Seniors
Top 10 Juniors
Top 10 Sophomores
Top 10 Freshmen
Jason,
You have done a great job with your pre-season evaluations of the Top Ten Picks for all the grades. I am sure their are girls who might well be on your list but everyone you picked deserved the recognition.
I am anxious to see who will be on your picks at the end of the season.
When will you have the other grades listed like the sophomores and freshman?
Jason, you and Chris do a great job each year and we fans appreciate all the coverage on our talented soccer girls in our County.
I would like to bring up one of SCHS biggest offensive threat in Junior Shelby Chambers-Garcia. She somehow was over looked.
Keep up the great work and see you in CIF!
How about watching junior,Lindsey walter of jserra play. She isn’t heard of but is a really talented player in the Lions squad.
Hey when do u guys change the list do u ever change them or do u keep it like that?
I recommend that take look at Genessee Banks at Marina High school, she has already committed to play collage soccer for Cal (Berkley) , and is a starting player on the U-16 Slammer team which top rated club soccer team is US youth soccer. She has being first team in sunset league and on CIF overall teams. Please text me or call if you would like to review this data.
Dear I Have a ?,
Thanks for the reply. The list of players was comprised primarily by how the players did during the preseason.
The list will be updated at the end of the year with the all county selections.
There’s a junior that plays for Cypress, Danielle Porter, who may be worth a look. She plays sweeper, stopper and striker and is usually the fastest player on the field. FYI, I think she was Empire League long jump champ last year.
There’s a junior that plays for Sonora High soccer team, Ashley Bush. She is a spectacular forward with 9 goals for the season. She’s very fast and alot of talent there. Take a look at her! Also a sprinter, third in OC for 200 yard dash.
Yeah, I’ve seen Ashley Bush play…quite amazing. In the Troy vs Sonora game she had a hat trick -one which was in the first of two 5min over time. Intense game…final score 5-5.
No mention of any keepers on this senior list. Goalkeeper Senior Amanda McDonough for Los Alamitos has been a big part why Los Al is 1st in Sunset. Just a thought…
Hey Jason,
When are you posting the new top 10?
What happened to this being updated or not. What is the point of posting something like this at the beginning of the season if you do not post something afterwards. honestly it is a joke to not stick to your word
wtf,
Have patience, the updated list is coming.
