What happened: Laguna Beach defeated Tustin, 4-3, in nonleague play Friday afternoon at Tustin High.
How it looked: With both teams returning from the holiday festivities of the past two days, neither team looked sharp. Tustin scored a few minutes in.
Laguna Beach led 3-2 at halftime. Tustin tied it at 3.
However, Tustin allowed an own goal late in the second half and lost.
Who scored: Ernesto Hinojosa recorded a hat trick for the Tillers.
Laguna Beach received goals from Roy Herbert, Edgar Rabadan and Bryce Healey
My thoughts: Laguna Beach (6-1-4) has only one loss, while Tustin (4-2-4) came into the match with just one loss.
It was clear early on both teams were dealing with the holiday situation. Neither team had tons of success controlling and playing with the ball.
It was a frantic, up and down, game. Lots of attacks generated, lots of shots on goal.
Neither defense can say it played well.
I kept thinking of the NCAA football game between Texas-Texas Tech as I watched, knowing more scoring was coming because the defenses weren't stopping anyone.
