Here are the teams ranked third and fourth in Steve Fryer's final football Top 10:
3. Mater Dei (8-4) The Monarchs almost beat Tesoro although QB Matt Barkley had a subpar game.
4. Servite (7-4) The Friars played a heck of a nonleague schedule – Crespi, Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks, Clovis West, Edison and St. Paul. Of that group, only St. Paul had a losing record. Clovis West won a CIF championship in the Central Section. Notre Dame went 11-1. Servite also beat Orange Lutheran, in a Trinity League game.
RELATED:
Mr Barkley had a sub par game because the Mater Dei offense was not up to the challenge of the Tesoro defense, i.e. picked him off four times in the first half alone and harrassed him into early throws all night.
Whatever you say Blogger, fact remains that Mater Dei played Tesoro better than any other team all season long. A field goal away from beating Tesoro even!

LB Poly 20-Tesoro 17!!
Poly would have whooped up on MD his year!
not a bad season considering md reloaded with an entirely new 1st time starters wr corps, had only 1 return starter (maldonado) on defense and 2 return starters (barkley, ward) on the offense.
