The Monarchs also are No. 1 in the state and No. 1 in the nation. Last year’s state Division II champions, 35-1 in 2007-08, return three All-County first-team players – the Wear twins, David and Travis, and Andy Brown – and second-team All-County selection Gary Franklin. The Wears signed with North Carolina, and Brown signed with Stanford. Franklin, a junior, committed to USC. Tyler Lamb, a junior who committed to UCLA, transferred from Colony of Ontario. This could be the best starting five in county history.
