I first got the opportunity to coach water polo in 1976 at Western High School. There I met Grafton Weiss and his team mates and coached a slightly successful season. Grafton was mature beyond his young years and he was elected captain of Varsity Water Polo and Swimming. Grafton was then interested in going on to college and playing water polo. Later I read about Grafton coaching at Magnolia Water Polo. I left education and joined our family business and our two boys attended Servite and played water polo under Jim Sprague. Grafton was at Katella and I was proud to have known him. I was shocked when I heard about Grafton's death. He will be sorely missed.

Its great to see that the all-star game is still going on. Grafton would want that. I had the luxury to play against Grafton when I was a player at Troy and now a coach there. He was a classy guy who was very inspiring to his players and his fellow coaches. I am close with Mustafa Hassan and he spoke very highly of Grafton. He will be missed dearly and the water polo family in the Link household and at Troy wish his family and friends the best and we are thinking of you. Congratulations 2008 Katella boys, you made Grafton very proud.

Grafton will be greatly missed. He is the epitome of a coach. He genuinely cares for each youth and actively takes part in helping them be a better person not just a better athlete. I went to Magnolia were he touch many lives. I am saddened by his loss; for his family and the community.
