  • heydude says:

OLu will win and LB Ploy will win

  • STICKEM says:

I DON’T KNOW ABOUT THE REST OF YOU BUT I’M SICK OF O-LU. GO TESORO! OH AND LB-POLY SHOULD TAKE CARE OF LAKEWOOD NO PROBLEM.

  • heydude says:

tesoro is going down with OLu, go ahead start up Tesoro, you always do, you will gang up and bully every single poster who thinks you should loose. So, FYI, we don’t mind your bullying, it is your MO

  • scubamcdaddy says:

I just wonder if heydude knows what “M.O.” means?

  • David from Anaheim Hills says:

I think Tesoro defense is full of holes, the DB’s are slow. But OLu was tough in shutting down a very good team Notre Dame. Kudos to OLu on a great victory. OLu 17 Tesoro 14
Long Beach Poly is squeaking by albeit playing way under their potential to defeat two excellent teams Amat and Espy. The hour glass could be running out or POLY will rise up and show what they made of. Lakewood is very scary right now, they are the hottest team in the PAC-5. Where they can over come the mental monolith of beating Long Beach Poly is to be seen.
Great call from Coach Lara on the tight end pass to beat Espy.
    L.B. POLY 17 Lakewood10

  • scubamcdaddy says:

Before all the negative and nasty postings start, I would just like to say that we should all remember that this is just FOOTBALL. High school football at that. Im a Tesoro father, and have seen the following this year:

Mater Dei has the best QB I have ever seen play high school football. And the Mater Dei supporters were great the other night. They showed nothing but class.

Fountain Valley had the best running back I saw all year. Oh yes, and the FV supporters were also great and showed nothing but class.

San Clemente never quits. Never. And the SC supporters showed nothing but class.

Los Alamitos has a stud at quarterback. And yes, their supporters, and their coach, showed nothing but class.

Can’t we all just get beyond trashing other schools, parents, and supporters? We are all just rooting for the kids and hoping to win a FOOTBALL GAME. This is not war. If you want that, just pick up the newspaper any day of the week.

Tesoro parents are not rich; they don’t kick puppies, nor do they eat their young. There is good and bad everwhere, at every school, on every corner. Painting a school and its supporters with a broad brush just because you did not like what you saw is certainly a wasted effort.

I wish Orange Lutheran nothing but the best in the upcoming game and look forward to rooting for our Titans!

  • tondizzle85 says:

Both Olu and Tesoro are great teams. Both teams are physical and disciplined, but I think Olu coaching will be the difference. They come up with excellent game plans to slow down good offenses. Tesoro’s QB will be forced to pass and that Olu secondary will make some big plays. Also, Tesoro will have to force turnovers to win this game and Olu has tightened up on its ball control since those early losses. Don’t expect a blowout from either team.

Contrary to what others think, Lakewood is going to drive Long Beach Poly crazy, and that running back will have the Jackrabbits looking confused. Lakewood was able to contend with an Esperanza like Servite defense and Servite was more versatile offensively than Esperanza. Many picked Servite to beat Poly if they were to match up so, if Lakewood can mix it up, stop the Poly run, and make some crucial plays, then Lakewood will be the one team left standing from the Moore league.

  • heydude says:

hey dude, or you, mcpappa……there you tesoro people go again, picking on misssspelllling, oh is that how you spell it?!?!

I should have kknown you were a tesoro parent from the start of all of your postings.

Byt the way, nobody accused any of you of having more money, one of your own parents did that, then tried to retract the statement.

It just so amazing to me how you don’t just stop, and think about what everyone is saying. Just listen. For once, stop thinking about yourselves.

    Go OLu.

  • scubamcdaddy says:

David from Anaheim Hills, and Tondizzle: Great points. Unfortunately, I think both of you are correct.

Heydude: I’m not sure where all the anger comes from, but you might want to explore some meditation techniques.

And if anyone agrees with my earlier post regarding civility, please say so. I’m hoping I’m not alone on that issue.

    Thank you…

  • heydude says:

No anger, just laughing at how all of you attack every poster who does not like your tesoro titans. Why don’t you just leave bloggers alone when they don’t agree with you. Oh, wait, because Tesoro people have to have the last word.

Okay, then there you have it,

Tesoro people have the last word. Last wORD. lolololol

PS : We will have the last laugh on Saturday when you loose.

  • Insurance Dude says:

Tesoro is really earning the respect they are getting. Unlike the BCS, CIF’s allow them the chance to prove they are not a fluke with a weak schedule. Last week there was chatter about the weak South Coast / South County teams and, not surprisingly, the MD “what” poster is no where to be found today. Props to coach Barnes. Major Props to Preston King. He would be a major plus to any D1 team. Far more aggressive and savy then Mascarenas. Neuheisel or Carrol should come down to Santa Ana Stadium Friday night to see an outstanding football player.

Lakewood beat a struggling MV team who’s program has lost some luster. That said, Poly knows they need to get up for games or they will have the same lackluster games they have had in the last two. Would love to see Tesoro vs. Poly.

  • titanfan says:

    heydude,

I don’t know how you can scubamcdaddy’s post was an attack… He’s just saying he thinks that lots of fans showed lots of class (clearly not you) and that he’s looking forward to a close game on Saturday.

As for the Tesoro-Olu game goes, I think Tesoro’s ability to intercept and Picazo’s intelligence as a quarterback will lead them to victory. He made not be the most talented QB, but he definitely knows exactly what to do. Also, our defense is one of the best…

  • wow says:

    heydude,

How old are you? 12? You really need to get a LIFE outside of hatin on Tesoro. The loser is YOU!

  • OGbigGuy says:

I would like to thank Tesoro for recognizing when the parents and team has class. You should take some lessons from school that have been there and know how to act. What you say and how you act are two different things.

    Go O Lu

  • JoeCinOC says:

Well, first of all, this is going to be a great game. Probably decided by a field goal.

    Lutheran 24, Tesoro 21

I think Tesoro has a great defense and a great quarterback. Lutheran faced this against Notre Dame and overcame and then some. I think it will be low scoring and the defenses should dominate in this one.

I totally hear you scubamcdaddy. I wish Tesoro nothing but the best as well. You folks have a great football team. I agree with your post on civility. I think we are going to have the best game of the year. It’s going to be great. I respect you guys, hopefully we will earn your respect. Lutheran plays with a lot of class on the field, as you will see. They are a very humble team. They work hard and are very blue collar, as I’m sure your team is.

Let’s just pray for a great game and no injuries. May the best team win! Good luck to you guys.

  • heydude says:

    11 actually. LOL

ANd, like I said you gotta have the last word.

    GO OLu.

  • heydude says:

    11 actually. LOL

  • JoeCinOC says:

Also, I’m predicting Lakewood to pull the upset.

Lakewood 21, Long Beach Poly 14

The Lancers vs the Lancers, that would be cool! I would be happy to play Poly again. It would be the third straight year. We are 1 and 1 against them. Should be 2 and 0. The refs missed a touchdown last year in the semis, but they didn’t have instant replay.

I think there is a lot of mutual respect between Poly and Lutheran.

  • roy says:

I go to Tesoro and im extremely happy on how well our football program has done this season… i know it was not the toughest of schedules but when the big games came ( Mission, San Clemente, Los AL, and Mater Dei ) we showed hunger and determination to win those games. The past game against Mater Dei was the most exciting football games ive been to for a long time, Matt Barkley is one hell of a QB and should do very well at USC. Though the Mater Dei players were bigger and and a liitle bit better than us technically, we showed heart and and the will to win and that is why we came out on top. Next weeks game will be a tough one against O Lu but win or lose, we had a tremendous season.
    Go TITANS!!!

  • JoeCinOC says:

Scubamcdaddy, I do have to respectfully disagree with you on one comment though. Matt Barkley is NOT the best high school quarterback I have ever seen. Don’t get me wrong, he is probably a great kid, and he has a heck of an arm, but he is not very accurate. Remember, he did throw 4 interceptions against your Titans. He has been throwing them all year. He has a lot of refining to do. He will probably get that at USC next year and the years to come. I think you would be more impressed with Kasdorf from Notre Dame Sherman Oaks. He is big, strong, accurate, and can run. He is fast and explosive. We played against both quarterbacks, but I would take Kasdorf.

  • Poly player says:

I’m a senior at LB Poly on the football team and my opinion on the O Lu-Tesero game is that O Lu will pull it off. I definitely think Tesero is a great team, but having played against O Lu the past 2 years in the semis i think O Lu’s experience of being there will make the difference…they may have not been hot at times during the season but they know how to turn it on (obviously with Notre Dame), and i think they will come away with close victory

    Go Poly

  • JoeCinOC says:

Well said Poly player!! Good luck to your team. You have a lot of class. God bless you.

  • JoeCinOC says:

We have nothing but respect for you guys. I am not a player at Olu, but I did go there. We have always wanted to compete with Long Beach Poly.

  • scubamcdaddy says:

    JoeCinOC:

Couldn’t agree with you more….good luck to your team as well. I know a few of the players over there as well as a couple teachers. All good people who know how to enjoy a good game and to put things in their proper perspective. This should be a fun game!

    Go Titans!

  • nosoup4yu says:

I can’t see Lakewood over Poly in game this big. Poly not likely to be as courteous to Lakewood QB as MV was last week and I suspect they’ll dirty his jersey some. Mission seemed to want to help him keep it clean. Regarding behavior of fans scubamcdaddy spoke of I go to Sunset, Trinity, some SCL games and I’ve only run poor behavior repeatedly from one school; A Trinity school that wears red mostly. Very arrogant knuckleheads, really. Barkley is good, but Mark Sanchez
just 3 years ago much better in my book. O-Lu v. Tesoro shapes up as a real good hs game. QB who makes no mistakes (Picazzo) and “hogs” O-line vs. Lancer D that really mans-up. Coach Kunau is the best indeed in the OC. Good luck both teams – you both will bring class to the game.

  • AcadiaJeff says:

#1 v #2 – enjoy it Orange County! The PAC-5 final will be icing on the cake for OL and they will make sure they kick the FG vs Poly on 3rd down this time to win.

  • Insurance Dude says:

The players around Barkley were not up to the task. I saw several MD games and they lacked the O-Line to protect him and the sure handed receivers to be able to catch his laser passes. Many of his picks were deflections off of the receivers. Picazzo is the smartest QB in the OC. He may not be the prototype but he has the brains to get it done with minimal mistakes. That is key. He keeps his head when the pressure is on. Anyone remember last years San Clemente game? He managed a last minute drive (58 seconds) that went 60 yards to win the game. Ditto with last years MV game. Both as a JUNIOR. He has the level headed brain to calm a huddle and make progressions during drives under great pressure, which is remarkable for a high school quarterback.

Again, Tesoro “just wont die”. Tesoro 28 OLU 20

  • EHSAlum says:

What a great game and experience this will be for all the
players, students, families and kids that will be playing in the future. May it be a blessing for all, win or lose!

  • Footballfan says:

I am expecting a great game between Tesoro-OLU, just like Tesoro-Mater Dei…great action, touchdowns, turnovers, everything… I wish some Pro games were this good!
It should be a fight to the end! Go Titans.

  • OLU FAN says:

CONGRATS TO TESORO FOR A GREAT SEASON. BUT LIKE ALL GOOD THINGS IT WILL END FOR TESORO SATURDAY. LUTHERANS COACHING AND TEAM EFFORT WILL PREVAIL.

  • lovefootball says:

I cannot stand Tesoro football, I cannot stand how big their ego is, since MDcouldn’t pull through with a win I’m prayin OLU will

  • wow says:

lovefootball…You must be heydude with a new name. Talk about egos, to believe that your opinion of Tesoro means a rats a$$ to us. The best team will prevail.

  • heydude says:

Wow, it is not me. lovefootball has his/her own opinion. Don’t pin that one gig on me, but you should go and read the comment I made on the article of OLU and Tesoro game televised. That one just might surprise you. So there.

  • Lancer4Life says:

I go to OLu and I wanna just say best of Luck to both teams i think we will win and win by 2 scores but its gonna be a really tough fight.

  • jackrabbit says:

I have had the pleasure of watching some great football over the yrs due to my kids being active in the Poly band. Mater Dei, OLU, Loyola and this yrs. St. Bonaventure game provided the best entertainment for the buck in my opinion. OLU / Tesoro is a monster game, which should be a defensive battle. Poly / Lkwd….Poly hasn’t lost to them since ’82, but the way Poly has been playing has to be disconcerting to the faithful. Kinda like Alabama, rated no. 1. but a lot of people believe otherwise.

  • david anaheim hills says:

Can someone get a message to Coach Barnes at TESORO. Dial 562-591-1381 and tell Coach Lara it is time to create a new rivalry Tesoro Titans vs Long Beach Poly.
I am very impressed with Picazo, Preston King and the rest of this excellent squad.
Poly had to travel to Florida. To face Miami Northwestern the top division champion and so-called mythical High school champion. Poly 29-7.
Help save the environment and the cost of travel. It would be great to see POLY play one of countries BEST new football (TESORO) programs on a continous basis.
To all my OC neighbors the Long Beach POLY campus is only 6.88 miles from Orange County.
Good luck to Tesoro and I hope to see you in the PAC-5 championship.

  • Notorious says:

What the hell are you talking about? Tesoro is certainly not one of the nation’s best programs. They may be one of the best this season, but I hardly even consider Lutheran one of the nation’s best programs and they actually won a Pac 5 title already. You need far more consistency than 1 good year to be considered even one of the state’s best programs much less the nation. This Tesoro is only 2 years removed from a 1-9 program and while there’s been obvious improvement, you might want to slow your roll on one of the best program’s in the nation by actually winning a Pac 5 title or two.

  • Poly player says:

Poly will never play anybody from the Pac-5 in their preseason, its just dumb. we wait till the playoffs to face the pac-5 teams.

  • scubamcdaddy says:

    Heydude:

I saw your other post. Good for you; although you seem to be a hater of all things Tesoro, I salute your honesty.

Me; I’m a lover of all things Tesoro….GO TITANS!

  • Trojan514 says:

    Amen Notorious…….

  • Rams19 says:

Winners of the Semifinals: LKWD over LB POLY and TESORO over OLU

Winner of the Final: LKWD over TESORO

  • David from Anaheim Hills says:

Notorious Tesoro one of the countries best NEW programs. New, up and coming, fresh, new on the football map. Have you seen the quality of this New team? They are a exciting, disciplined, execute with precision, well coached and all this qualities make up a great program. I will recant the part about the nations best programs, but TESORO is deserving of respect. They are one of California’s best NEW high school football programs. I will not back peddle on that fact. Good luck to OLU and TESORO

  • Just a Mom says:

Coach Barnes congratulations to you for bringing out “VERY BEST” in your talented football team. Keep up the good work Tesoro coaches!

  • Just a Mom says:

Coach Barnes congratulations to you for bringing out the “VERY BEST” in your talented football team. Keep up the good work Tesoro coaches!

  • dennis says:

I believe there is going to be a lancer bowl this year. poly is weak during the playoffs.come on number one seed and barely winning their games. I don’t get the trash talking on tesoro side they lost to lakewood 2 years ago in preseason. olu is going to win big time. lakewood 28 poly 24

  • Poly will beat Lakewood just because that’s the way it is supposed to be. I would like to see Poly vs. Tesoro, but I believe OLU has the same intangibles that Poly has….they just know how to play when it counts. The finals will be the rubber match in the series and it will be a toss up.

  • BandParent says:

The O-Lu/Tesoro debate rages for a couple more days. I know almost nothing about football but I know this. O-Lu is going to win! Why? Cause I’m serving pennance for all the nasty comments I’ve ever made regarding the sport. We’ll win the Semi, we’ll win the final, we’ll go to the state and if they add a national championship we’ll go to that too just cause I happened to make some bad remarks as a kid about football. Oh well Check out that O-lu band, especially the kid with the blue guitar!

  • lovefootball says:

wow… hah wow, good luck. Gabe Lemon I hope you dominate, miss watching you play every week (your’e seriously an UNREAL athlete) & you deserve to be where you are today.

  • N0hmadd says:

Since Poly just Defeated Lakewood in the Semi’s (20-10) I can see OLU vs LBP Final, which will more then likely will turn out to be a low scoring battle of attrition.

To close to call, who ever pulls it out in the end the score will be in the area of (10-7) Turnovers will be the key to victory or defeat.

  • David from Anaheim Hills says:

Tondizzle85, JonCinOC and Rams19 I am sorry to tell you that you were wrong about Lakewood coming away with a win over LB Poly. It hasn’t happened since 1982 and didn’t happen on Friday night. I will be checking your next predictions. An inside tip go with Poly.

  • Tesoro fan says:

Tonight is going to be a sick game… Go Tesoro!

  • goggy pries says:

Tesoro’s gonna win the pac-5 championship, their huge and there line is the best line in the state, lb poly is way overrated. poly should destroy teams like lakewood and espereanza

  • tondizzle85 says:

Lakewood should have won, but those two interceptions killed them. They had forced Poly to a field goal with plenty of time to score. Lake wood was driving and then their QB forced the throw and the ball was intercepted. I was, however, completely wrong about Olu coming out with the win against Tesoro. Tesoro is the real deal!

  • brb says:

Hey heydude, you a Poly fan now? Titans have been underrated all year, blowout of OLu dispels ANY doubt. Their O-Line is the best in the state, maybe best in the country and that’s where the game is played (on the line of scrimmage).
