Here is a recap of the action from the second round of the CIF playoffs, according to the numbers:

212 - Total of first half rushing yards gained by Orange Lutheran.

316 - Rushing yards gained by Orange Lutheran in its 24-14 victory over Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks.

4 - First half interceptions thrown by Mater Dei quarterback Matt Barkley against Tesoro.

47 yards - Length of Zac Chocek's potential game-tying field goal that came up short to give Tesoro a 38-35 victory over Mater Dei.

35 percent - Matt Barkley's completion percentage (12 of 34) against Tesoro. His lowest output of the season.

16 - Consecutive points scored by La Habra as it rallied to a 23-14 victory over El Dorado.

4 - Rushing touchdowns scored by Laguna Hills' Derek Browning to lead the Hawks to a 41-7 triumph over Santiago.

0 - Points allowed by Corona del Mar against Laguna Beach in two meetings this season (37-0 Sept 12 and 41-0 Friday).

40 - Consecutive victories for St. Margaret's after a hard-fought 17-6 victory over Yucca Valley.

147 - Rushing yards for Canyon's running back Jared Gobert on 10 carries in Friday's victory over Fullerton. Gobert scored on runs of 35 and 65 yards.

157 - Receiving yards for Canyon's Colton Grandbouche. Grandbouche had two touchdowns (41 and 17 yards).

191 - Rushing yards for Trabuco Hills junior Donnie Simonsen in Friday's 28-21 victory over Western. Simonsen had 31 carries, replacing the injured Shane DeCillo and Danny Arriola.

169 - Rushing yards by Lakewood's Jerry Stone as the Lancers defeated Mission Viejo, 28-7.

2 and 5 - Lakewood intercepted Mission Viejo quarterback Allan Bridgford twice and sacked him five times in the victory.

Did you notice?

That Exavier Edwards led Orange Lutheran with 127 rushing yards, his highest total since Sept. 26. He's finally healthy and his speed could be a factor in the semifinals.

Orange Lutheran-Tesoro

Seating capacity shouldn't be a concern this week, with the game being played at either Santa Ana Stadium or Orange Coast College. If you have a chance to get tickets, do so, this has the makings of being a game to remember. The Tesoro passing game led by Robbie Picazo against the Lutheran secondary. Preston King against Gabe Lemon. The Lutheran running game against the Tesoro defense.

I would pay to watch this one.

See you next week!

Exavier Edwards is not Olu's best back. He's not the speed back at all. He's a power back. Kyle Dravis is really the speed back, along with Damani Wilson. Kyle and Damani pose a more threatening backfield. Personally, I would like to see more of those two backs. I saw both of them at the Santa Margarita game versus Olu and was impressed with Olu running game.
