Fryer’s teams 11-15

November 24th, 2008, 2:43 pm · · posted by

Here are Steve Fryer’s teams 11-15:

11. Los Alamitos (8-3): Griffins had their chances, but could not capitalize on them in a 23-7 loss to Tesoro in a Pac-5 first-round game. Los Alamitos WR Paul Richardson made some great catches in the game, and he will be in the discussion when we select the All-Orange County team.

12. La Habra (9-2): Highlanders defeated Anaheim, 83-0. I never want to type “83-0” again.

13. Dana Hills (5-5): Dolphins did not make the playoffs, but they did have one heck of an offense and were fairly competitive in the tough South Coast League.

14. Laguna Hills (10-0): Hawks came off the Week 10 bye, shook off the rust and beat Artesia of Lakewood, 17-9. Hawks play Santiago in the second round Friday.

15. Fullerton (9-2): Allain rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns in the Indians’ 42-3 victory over Santa Ana Valley.

La Habra was a disgrace to sportmanship. The Coach was not mature enough to get out of the way of his Pride. The players should have known better as well, Understanding how they would feel if someone else stopped on them. Simply a gross display of Immaturity.

  • Country says:

La Habra played back ups. I don’t see the problem. The starters put up the first 42 and the back ups put up the next 42, probably on the same Anaheim starters.

  • Country says:

    I mean 41.

  • tk says:

you guys are giving mazzota a bad rep. Mazzota is a great coach and its not like he intended it to be 83-0. He did indeed put the second and third stringers in. anaheim not being able to stop the depth of LH is a whole diffferent story.

  • fan says:

Next year we will do it again!!! maybe in the future 83-0 will be nothing thanks to LH FOOTBALL…. Go highlanders… ITS FOOTRBALL … Coach lets his second and third string kids play us fans love to watch them play it gived us a chance to see what to watch for next year…. THANKS COACH……

  • PJ says:

Anaheim, just could not stop us. It was a clear cut case of a school that was completely out matched. I felt sorry for them but when the 3rd and 4th went in, well those kids just wanted to show what they could do. Anaheim had too many players going both ways. We have the luxury of not only having enough to platoon, but they are all so very good. Anaheim should be applauded for getting there trying very hard. Though they should remember to control their emotions and become a team of cheap shot artists. It got a little chippy out there for a while.

  • dc says:

Honestly anyone of us would love to be on the team doing the stomping, everyone loves scoring, everyone loves winning, Mazzotta’s intentions weren’t to embarrass Anaheim, his intentions were to win, he put the second and third stringers in during the third quarter, and Anaheim still couldn’t stop them, on running plays, simple ones at that. That’s the game, and La Habra fans love it.

  • ex lancer/clan dad says:

fryer? how do you rank 2 teams that didnt make play offs above los al and la habra who are dead even on any givin friday. get real mr want to be friar waterboy,is it ironic your name is pronounced the same as your walk on water friars.

  • Jerri says:

    HEY MEAN GENE -
In the last three years C.I.F. has put so much garbage rules on La Habra…it’s ridiculous. We don’t score enough points, we score too many points, we’re unsportsmanlike, we can’t play music, we can’t play music during a play, we can’t chant too loud the other team may get scared. It’s high school football. You ever been to Schurr high school to play a semifinal game??? The benches were like the kind at an elementary school and we had thousands of people go watch that game. We asked for more seating or a larger venue to accommodate the fans but no…there solution was to give us risers for the band to sit on. Here’s what I heard about the logic in Mazzota’s letting the score be what it be….a couple of years back we had an opportunity to have the home advantage over another team; the C.I.F. people stated that since the other school had scored more points against there opponents they would have the advantage. So Mazzotta is just trying to be prepared for anything C.I.F. may hit him with. So, Mean Gene heres how it goes…when you go to C.I.F. especially an “at large berth” like Anaheim you’d better be prepared for ANYTHING!!!

  • football fan says:

Im having trouble trying to figure out what exactlly mean gene thinks la habra shouldve of done. The running clock rule does not apply in C.I.F. play . it seems it would be more hummiliating. if la habra just laid down so that anahiem didnt feel bad. bottom line is they got stomped it happens, this is football people.

  • STEVE FRYER, ocvarsity.com says:

The Orange League, which includes Anaheim and Magnolia, should be in the Southern Division (which what used to be called Division IX) and not the Southwest (Division VI).

As for the top 10 … I think Newport Harbor and Edison still are among the county’s top 10 teams. If a team ranked. The only non-top 10 team that beat one of the top 10 teams is No. 11 Los Alamitos.

  • zk says:

This only shows that La Habra needs to be moved out of their divison and into the PAC-5 where real football is play not agianst teams at the caliber of D-5

There is no reason for Edison and Newport Harbor to be ranked above LOS ALAMITOS. Los al beat edison first of and the LA vs NH was down to the wire. selfish on by the voters

  • tommy (sung ho) choi #58 says:

these rankings are bolshevism, fryer quit ur job dawg stop hatin

  • jack action says:

hey anaheim fans u better stop crying and accept the fact that u lost. .i guess u people think that we need to cushion the fact that sometimes u win and sometimes u lose and thats the reality of life. football is a fight in every aspect, so why try and sugarcoat it

  • Craig says:

Was La Habra in the wrong against Anaheim? No, the reason La Habra started their starters in the third quarter and passed the ball was because La Habra’s quarterback needs the passing reps. La Habra’s offensive attack has been predominantly ground oriented this year which is somewhat of a change from years past. They don’t throw the ball that well (Although Nygren looked promising and a lot more comfortable then he has all year) but they will probably need to throw the ball with some success to win their title and the coach realizes that because he has a clue! The coach also realizes that he must maintain his players conditioning as well as their mental edge in what could be blow outs in the earlier rounds so that they are in position to play four quarters in the end to win a championship. When La Habra replaced their starters in the third quarter they were playing a lot of Sophomores and for sure one freshman who scored and was effective. Nobody likes to get beat and especially to a classless organization. But La Habra took the necessary measures on both ends. If La Habra was trying to run up the score it would have been much worse! And Steve Fryer. If La Habra takes care of the football and throws the football with any type of authority they win both the Los Alamitos game and the San Clemente game and they’re battling for the number one spot in Orange County. And you need to see “83-0″ without running up the score Steve Fryer to get you to see your PAC 5 bias and recognize that when La Habra’s on they can beat anyone of your beloved Pac 5 teams. And it’s not just this year Steve Fryer it was last year also. Ask Frank Mazzota if last years team didn’t have more depth and weapons on both sides of the ball? You dogged La Habra last year as well in relation to your OC Top 10. So, ‘YES’ Steve Fryer you need to see “83-0″ without running up the score a few times so you can recognize when a program has arrived instead of jumping on an ‘Old Dog’ who has no new tricks. There’s a lot of “Old Dogs” you got rated annually in your top 10 and some of those teams are tired and flat out overrated ass well as your Pac 5 leagues. I know you like comparing scores to judge the strength of a team but that doesn’t tell the whole story does it Steve Fryer? Orange Lutheran 10 Tustin 0. And then El Dorado beats Tustin the last game of the season? May be teams get better as the season goes on? Maybe a team gets beat early on because they didn’t take care of the football but won the battle in the trenches (La Habra over Los Alamitos). Maybe that’s how the New York Giants (Southwest Team) defeated the New England Patriots (Pac 5 team) last year ? Maybe David can beat Goliath? And maybe greatness is recognizing David before he beats Goliath! Not after the fact. So, ‘Yes’ all you writers need to see “83-0″ without running up the score so that a program like La Habra can be considered for a state Championship (small schools) game versus being overlooked and underrated because of media bias and lack of knowledge.

  • griffinsmom says:

Hey La Habra- you lost to Los Al. But you are still in the playoffs. Edison- you lost also. Not our fault you injured yourself in your precious preconference schedule. It is what you do in Sunset that counts.. Narbonne 11-1 going for the city semi final. That one loss- Los Al. Mayfair picked to win this weekend. Yep lost to Los Al. Esperanza still playing ? Lost to Los AlSo Los Al is 11th?? What a joke this final poll is.
