    Steve-O,

Lets get through the first round, before we start perdicting second rounds and thirds. Let’s analyze each match up. I mean your picks, are about 50 percent. I will give you a frst round upset.

Bishop Amat over Long Beach Poly…. there I said it.

  • jesse says:

    Orange Lutheran over fountain Valley

  • Petros says:

    Steve:

Can’t disagree with even one of your picks. And Poly wins it all.

  • KO says:

Bishop Amat over Poly??? Someone get a breathalyzer.

Look out for Tesoro, though. I think they can put on a run.

  • roy says:

all the games this week will be pretty tight looking forward to a good run for Tesoro

  • setu sauileone says:

lets be realistic i know what im about to say is being cocky , but come-on, long beach poly all the way baby !! hands down it is- what it is

  • bruin4ever says:

The only change i would make on my parlay card is Mission Viejo losing. They are due for a fall.

  • fealofani says:

Upsets for Fry’s first round - Esperanza over San Clemente, Fountain Valley over OLu, Loyola over Mission Viejo. The semi’s are in Good with NO versus Poly…..Let’s make things interesting and have another OC School versus Poly in the finals.

  • grandma says:

I think Matre Dei is vulnerable in 2nd round.
Tesoro just needs to play their game.

Yes, I agree Sunset League is apt to be wiped out in the first round. Too inconsistent except Los Al. Look for lots of holding… they are consistently holding, and very clever at hiding it.

  • Tim says:

Upset of the year. San Clemente over LB Poly. SC only lost two games (MV & Tesoro) by a total of 10 points and ended both games inside the other teams 15 yard line. GO Tritions !!!!!

  • beachbum says:

There is almost always a surprising upset in the first round… Look at the history! 1st place teams tend to be looking past 3rd place teams…

  • grandma says:

San Clemente over LB POLY? I’ll take that bet. I need a new car anyway.

  • "The Truth" says:

    1st Round
Poly 42 beats Bishop Amat 14
Esperanza 28 over San Clemente 24
Mission Viejo 17 over Loyola 10
    Lakewood 35 over Servite 21
Tesoro 21 over Los Al 14
    L.B. Jordan 20 over Mater Dei 17
    O-Lu 35 over Fountain Valley 21
Notre Dame 49 over Compton 14

    2nd Round
    Poly 28 over Esperanza 24
Lakewood 35 over Mission Viejo 20
    Tesoro 42 over L.B. Jordan 34
    O-Lu 21 over Notre Dame 20

    3rd Round
    Lakewood 35 over Poly 28
    Tesoro 24 over O-Lu 14

    Championship
    Tesoro vs Lakewood

If you do not believe that Lakewood is not going this far you are just plain crazy. Don’t look at the 4-6 record, but look at what they have been doing. Lakewood has been playing it’s best defense and they got their running back.
    Lakewood is 1-1 against Tesoro. 2006 26-13 Lakewood. 2007 24-21 Tesoro.

  • fealofani says:

I am an optimist for the Sunset League and an 3 upsets in the first round with Esperanza over SC, FVHS over OLu, and Loyola over MV. But Long Beach Poly is the clear favorite. Does anyone remember their zero week game against a Florida school who invited them to Florida. The team was 49 wins - 0 losses (something crazy like that) and they got spanked by Poly. They have athletes and speed and a crazy defensive line that rushes for against seven and still sack the quarterback. Do the math.

  • justaguyinoc says:

Do some of you people actually believe what you are saying??

  • fealofani says:

I’m optimistic for the Orange County Schools, but the clear favorite is Long Beach Poly

  • I see a pattern to your predictions. All private schools move on to the semis except Poly. Maybe they should get their own divison so teams like Edison, Newport Harbor, and Dana Hills can have a shot at the post season. Also sick of hearing how our stadiums are big enough.

  • HS Footbal Fan says:

here we go … more whining about private schools vs public. Week in and week out everyone has their chance .. and the best teams on game day move on.

  • baronfan09 says:

Fountain valley has had a great season this year. better than the past 3. we have the “dream team” half these boys have been plaing together sine junior all-american. i have faith in our boys that they CAN beat OLu. size isnt a problem to us. look at scotty baile(#1) not the biggest player but was knockin out guys half his size against edison& los al.

  • baronfan09 says:

  • Tesoro fan says:

Tesoro will be going all the way! Great team with great coaches! GO TITANS!!

  • hb22 says:

i think its just hilarious how edison isnt in playoffs.

sorry boys, shouldnt be so cocky.

  • gregg says:

I think it is funny any of you think you are going to the state game.If poly and centennial finish undefeated they are going d-1 and open division.

  • Barons09 says:

i agree with baronsfan09 :) look at this season.Fryer has picked us to lose AT EVERY GAME. we have been 1-4 in league for the past five years witht he only win from Marina. but look at us now babyyyyyy, 3 league wins. and friday night, its gonna be over OLU. we got the best defense in the county, no one is scoring on us ;)

  • gregg says:

Tesoro or any other sc team would not have a chance against centennial!!

  • Trojan514 says:

I think “The Truth” needs to stay off of the “The Drugs”….

  • Matt Barkley says:

I love it how he just picks the favorites… really mixing it up.. huh.
My guess… Fountain Valley over Orange L.
    the score… FV-17 oLU-10
i believe the barons strong defense will shut down everything that oLU throws at them.
If Middlebrooks can break one early, which he probably will, then oLU’s defense will be weakened because they usually breakdown after early scoring. But coach Shipp needs to mix up play book a little.
he needs to run more counters and put middlebrooks also in the recieving category.. get a couple of flat routes in there for “THE BLUR” MIDDLEBROOKS.

  • Emily says:

Honestly, I’m sorta hoping FV doesn’t win, because I can’t go to the game. If they win, I’ll miss out big time… But of course I want our Barons to win, that would be great. But man I hope I don’t miss out on a tremendous game… =/ I’m already sad enough that I can’t make it.

  • breezy23(baronfan09) says:

i TOTALLY agree with Matt Barkley. FINALLY someone who is on FVs side. No one understands the hard work our boys have been going through. they have improved soo much since beginning of summer i know. i used to film them.
our defense is crazy this year we may not have the BIGGEST guys but they know how to fight.
and our offense obviously has proven the same especially after our loss of steven santana(#22)[we miss you steven]

our team has the biggest heart and has gone far this season and provede steve fryer wrong and everyone else!

I think it is funny any of you think you are going to the state game.If poly and centennial finish undefeated they are going d-1 and open division.

Gregg isn’t far off on that. Poly and Cent programs have been tough this year. Did “Tess” play a Poly, Cent, MD, OLu … level program this year? I think they played a team equal to Los Al, but Los Al isn’t at a Poly caliber this year. I want to give credit to all of these boys for their efforts this far, but this is 2nd season and now boys will be seperated from the men. Good luck to all of you and now it’s WIN or GO HOME

  • EsperanzaMom says:

TO ALL ESPERANZA FOOTBALL PLAYERS, COACHES, STUDENTS AND FAMILIES WHO SUFFERED LOSSES IN THE FIRE THIS PAST WEEKEND ARE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU!
GOOD LUCK FRIDAY AGAINST SAN CLEMENTE!!

    GO AZTECS!!!

  • grandma says:

You don’t reslly think that was Barkley, do you?
Hey FV…You’re calling Edison cocky? You just got there on a draw, and who said nobody scored against you. I guess your 3 losses were a mistake.
Okay so you havd a player. what else? Do you have the bell?
    do you?
Did you beat Mater Dei? OLu did. You had no non-league challenges.
I would have cheered for you, but, well, I think I’ll cheer for the winner instead.
Those coaches are smarter than you. Every coach knows each game can go either way. There’s no sure thing. But you can talk all you want. Let’s see what happens on the field. LOL
He who laughs last, laughs best..

  • grandma says:

    Yeah,
If anybody has it tough, it’s experanza. How can they practice with all that SMOKE?
It’s tough when you lose you house…and everything in it.

Lucky for them, tho, they have less of a challenge in week one.

  • mv i dont know says:

the one thing that tesoro has over mission viejo is team unity I bet that all of the players and coaches on tesoro know each and everything about each other thats what makes them a good team they feel good standing next to there team mates and Mission dosent have that. The one thing i have noticed about coach BJ is that he only likes his stars QB,WR,RB he dosent care about his oline or dline he just cares about his stars and thats why they have been the losing team for a couple of years know I was a Mission fan know I am a Tesoro fan.

  • landon taylor says:

hhaha Matt you WOULD come on here a bash OLU. silly boy see you in english tomorrow babay! P.S. shouldnt you be working on your resume for tomorrow?

  • jackrabbit says:

Best game of the year so far…Poly vs St. Bonaventure. Worthy of a Championship Final. Poly won with its ‘D” and running game. The passing game is non existent. To beat Poly you must be able to pass the ball and make them pass the ball. St. B. loaded the box and still couldnt stop them. This div. is very tough with 4 teams that could win it.
Poly, OLU, Servite, and Tesoro. The lower bracket appears very strong. I would like to see how Tesoro plays Poly. Have seen all of the other combos before. Poly band rules!

  • jackrabbit says:

Oops, SO Notre Dame is definitely the fav. in the lower bracket. They have a habit of getting upset though. I think MD better watch itself against Jordan and their QB Timu. MD should win but they will be surprised by this guys speed. In the end….ND vs the Trinity should be worth watching.

  • BARONLOVE1 says:

fountain valley cheerleaders need to stop leaving messages on here breezy23 *cough*cough* HAHAHA

  • WE R OLU says:

I am an O lu supporter so i might be biased but i’ll try to stay neutral but i think we just squeek by fountain valley they are a very tough team not to be underestimated and I know we aren’t going to

however i think we will kill TEssoro just like we did last year people forrget all the teams that are ranked ahead of us we beat the year before except servite and lbp who we lost to 2-0 and should have won that qb sneak was clearly a touchdown. so I believe we have a legitimite shot to go past the first 2 rounds again. people forget how god the trinity League is. It is by far the best sports league in the state not just football either.

  • Jim H says:

I like Steve’s first round picks except I think Loyola beats Mission Viejo and I agree Poly will probably beat Bishop Amat but in a game much closer than most think it will be. As to the finals, I think Servite beats Poly and meets M.D. in a rematch. Note to the Truth. If you’ve got some of that Lakewood over Servite and LB Jordan over Mater Dei money out there I could use a piece of it. My 401K is taking a beating.

  • fvcheerleader09 says:

we never said anything about edison being cocky. that was someone from HB. and no we didnt get the bell but the head coach told one of our boys”you totally had us i dont know what happened” and even the players that im friends with from edison said we deserved to win. and we never said anything about esperanza. we couldnt practice cause the smoke either…GOOD LUCK FV. i know we can do it(:

  • footballfilmer says:

“grandma” needs to worry about her own team.k thanks.

  • Readytorumble says:

We R OLU, did you swollow after that post?

  • All About Serivte says:

Hey I think that Servite should get some credit. They had a freakin hard schedual Losing to two of the top teams in the state ( Crespi by one point and Notre Dame by 7) That is pretty impressive. I think We will go Pretty far in this. GOOOO SERVITE

  • EsperanzaFan says:

    in response to fvcheerleader:
You don’t really expect any of the people on this site to believe that an Edison coach told a boy from your school that you guys “totally had us and he doesn’t know “what happened”. I totally doubt that ever happened, I mean “TOTALLY DUDE!! And the fact that you are saying that you couldn’t practice because of the smoke from the Yorba LInda fire is absolutely ridiculous. It sounds to me like you are making excuses for FV because you don’t think that they can beat OLU. How can you use someone elses’ tragedy as an excuse for your lack of ability to back up all the trash talk you and your schoolmates have been posting, Did you lose your home and everything in it?!! I don’t hear the Esperanza, El Dorado or Canyon students complaining about the smoke. And as for not saying anything about Esperanza, how could you?? THEY BEAT YOU!!!
Good Luck to Esperanza, El Dorado and Canyon!!!
    GO AZTECS!!! AND OLU LANCERS!!!!

  • Esperanzamom says:

    Hey Esperanza Fan!
Don’t get to excited by fvcheerleader, the best team will win. However, i would like to add that OLU was closer to the smoke than FV and I don’t hear their team or cheerleaders making any excuses. Maybe we should take a lesson from the Trinity league and save it for the football field.

  • GE_KRUEGER says:

“All about Servite” Don’t get me wrong by my post. The reality is the better team advances to the next round or is it the team that knows there is not a tomorrow if they lose. Talent and being motivated wins games. Look at what the JSerra program did this year. 5-0 before league and 5-5 at the end of the season. The trinity teams to back up “We are OLu” is a very tough league, a caliber that I don’t believe “Tess” (2nd S intentional) tested by yet. I think Los Al has a good chance there to advance, but the ride stops the following week. Servite had an amazingly tough road this year. Poor Servite? No way. They signed up for it for a reason and glad they did. Edison signed up for Back 2 Back with Trinity teams. Where was “Tess” ? Playing really nobody but Fountain Valley. Tess says”But we played MV” So. You didn’t play NDSO, POLY, Servite, MD, Crespi, Cent, Amat. . Honestly I was surprised not to find La Quinta or Bolsa Grande on your schedule. Talent, matturity, coaching, and heart wins games now
and you do need that combination.

ESPERANZA - All of you in that area are in our prayers.

    CREDO 85′

  • GE_KRUEGER says:

    The “tt got stuck

  • the714 says:

i dont think fvcheerleader is using the smoke as an excuse for anything
shes probably stating that FV couldnt practice at all due to it, which is true a lot of schools couldnt.
and if your a mom of a player, dont talk trash it just makes your team look really bad let their playing do all the talking

  • fvfilmer09 says:

dont be trying to make fvcheerleader feel bad.
she was just stating that none of the teams ion our district could practice that day.
and yes, the other schools are complaining. dont say they arent.
plus, private schools have different rules than public schools. so OF COURSE they could practicce.
we’ll just see what happens at the game tonight.
oh and esperanza, you got here on a draw too.

  • Esperanzamom says:

Hey 714, i didn’t trash talk anyone. That was the Esperanza fan. And I never said that I was the mom of a player or current student.

  • barry menzel says:

Los Al is very fortunate to have a coach of John Barnes caliber…..college coaches respect him and he could be coaching at that level if he chose to.
Win or lose, we are proud of our good citizen scholar athletes.

    Thank you Coach Barnes!

    Go Grifins!!

  • gregg says:

krueger has it right, none of the south coast teams really play anybody of substance.Centennial begged for 2 years to pla md and rollins is done with that and regrets he ever scheduled us. Centennial will not schedule sc league teams.hurts our chances for state game.p.s crespi will not play us any longer after we clubbed them 3 straight!!

  • fvcheerleader09 says:

thank you the 714 and fv filmer.
i was stating a fact. and you dont have to believe me about the edison game my best friend told me the coach said that he wouldnt lie about it i know. and i was never talking trash just saying i have faith in my boys. i know they can do it.good luck boys i know youll play your hearts out. ill be on the sidelines cheering you on like i have been the past four years. i told you this is our year. and congrats to the 4 year barons and seniors<3 your hard work payed off.

  • All About Servite says:

Dont worry Servite will bring it tonight and get rid of Lakewood no problem. Coach Thomas is totally fired up and they will do amazing in the playoffs

  • 2pac says:

    EsperanzaFan
shouldnt u want fv to win
cuz it just makes ur team that much better wen they beat olu,
i want all sunset league teams to win.
Fv did have a challeging non league game hmmmmmm Tesoro???
    10-0?? Yeah not challenging enough.
since fv was one of the few if not the only one that didnt get killed by them.
To all trinity league fans, SUNSET league is better!!!!!
5 of the 6 teams were ranked in the top 10 at one point.
    Suck it trinity league

  • GE_KRUEGER says:

A woman will say 21,000,000 words before an Evinrude Etec needs maintenance, a man will say 7, 000,000. So, 2pac you said something about Tess oro?
