BOYS WATER POLO PLAYOFFS
WEDNESDAY’S CIF-SS SEMIFINALS

DIVISION I

LOS ALAMITOS (25-5) VS. EL TORO (28-2)

SITE, TIME: William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, 5 p.m.

OUTLOOK: The Chargers and Griffins are ranked first-second in Orange County, but El Toro leads the season series, 2-0. El Toro won the first match, 7-5, and the second in overtime, 9-8, even though not at full strength. The Chargers won both games despite getting only one goal from leading-scorer Griffin White (112).

SANTA BARBARA (23-7) VS. FOOTHILL (22-7)

SITE, TIME: William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, 7 p.m.

OUTLOOK: In their only meeting, the fourth-seeded Dons edged the top-seeded Knights, 11-10, in the third-place match at the South Coast Tournament. Both squads feature strong defenses anchored by their goalies. Foothill is led by Jay Lovero, who returned in the quarterfinals from a groin muscle injury. Santa Barbara’s stopper is Hunter Ploch.
