BOYS WATER POLO PLAYOFFS
WEDNESDAY'S CIF-SS SEMIFINALS

DIVISION II

RIVERSIDE POLY (21-9) VS. MATER DEI (22-7)

SITE, TIME: William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, 6:30 p.m.

OUTLOOK: This could be a duel between defenses. The fourth-seeded Bears feature one of the best goalies in the region in U.S. junior team member Gavyn Wild. In the quarterfinals, they also shut out Long Beach Wilson in the first and fourth periods. The top-seeded Monarchs have allowed seven goals in two playoff matches. They also have a strong goalie in Colin Carroll.

SERVITE (19-13) VS. JSERRA (19-9)

SITE, TIME: William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center, 5 p.m.

OUTLOOK: The Friars and Lions were part of a three-way tie for second in the Trinity League but JSerra won the teams' head-to-head meeting, 6-4. The Friars have won seven of nine matches since, including a 9-8 victory against defending Division II champion Villa Park in the quarterfinals. JSerra relies mostly on juniors and sophomores but beat third-seeded La Canada in the quarterfinals.
