The Furious Five: Best New Nicknames
List compiled by Carlos Arias and Damian Calhoun of OCVarsity.com:
1. Aaron “The Westminster Entertainment Unit” Garbutt, Westminster: The Westminster announcer introduces the Westminster band as “The Westminster Entertainment Unit,” but that moniker is best suited for Garbutt. He is one of the most entertaining players to watch in the county, whether he is making big plays on offense or delivering hits on defense.
2. Isaac “The Human Bowling Ball” Tago, Tesoro: This 5-foot-11, 225-pound fullback is a ferocious blocker that knows how to clear the lanes for his running back Zach Mitchell.
3. Robert “The Answer” Cruz, Magnolia: The question is how did Magnolia get into the playoffs? “The Answer” is Robert Cruz.
4. Ronnie “The Anomaly” Hillman, La Habra: The definition of anomaly: 1. the angular distance of a planet from its perihelion as seen from the sun; 2. deviation from the common rule; and 3. something anomalous, something different, abnormal, peculiar or not easily classified. Hillman is “The Anomaly.”
5. Richard “The Dream Smasher” Sandoval, Mission Viejo: You might dream about sacking Mission Viejo QB Allan Bridgford or you might dream about tackling one of the Diablos’ running backs. Then you wake up flat on your back with the 6-2, 300-pound “Dream Smasher” standing over you. Sandoval doesn’t just block opposing defensive linemen, he explodes into them and smashes them into the turf.

Hey readers – how about some nicknames for bloggers Carlos and Damian? Any suggestions?
I like “The Blur” for Middlebrooks as well. Perfect fit.
Tesoro’s QB Robbie “The Artist” Picazo is one I hear a lot.
I like SC’s receiver Graham “Catch-a-plenty” Tenney.
I like Pacifica’s RB Josh “The Elusive One” Brannon.
I like Tesoro’s WR/DB Preston “the chosen” King.
As for Carlos “the Maniacal Maniac” Arias, I don’t know. But dude really does scare me. Ever see the posts he comes up with? Michael Myers playing football? Best fight scenes in movies? Doomsday scenarios? A-Bomb photos on his posts?
And for DC, I like Damian “Perfect Blend” Calhoun. For those that know DC, he’s just right, thus the perfect blend.
I like Carlos “Big Dawg” Arias… in reference to his doggie stuff on the staff picks, not quite sure what prompted that in the first place. Something about underdogs.
Chis hit the nail on the head on Damian’s nickname, always seems to have a nice mix in his writting… Although he can’t seem to make up his mind on Mater Dei, one week his on the bandwagon and the next he wakes up thinking what the F*/?*** happened?

Tobolski: Yeah, Meathook is the best new nickname so far. I forgot to warn that you might get roundhouse kicked or sucker punched in the chops whenever you click on my boxing/MMA blog.
