Orange County has nine of the 16 teams in the Pac-5 Division, where Long Beach Poly is the top-ranked team. Is there an O.C. team that can win it all?

I dont know if we ( TESORO) will win da Pac-5 this year because ther are many quality teams in it... but we will go a long way... Mission is goin to get killed!!!
Hey titan, why don't u worry about your game, and stop hating MV so much. You aren't even playing us, y don't you jut worry about who you are going to play and stop spending all of you time and energy thinking about our team. Just food for thought, we NEVER think of your team, cuz u don't matter to us!

Hey, I heard Barnes son is playing Barnes the Dad team. HUH. It should be interesting. Do you think Dad will give the game away to the titans? Nah, he would never do that, he has honor and ethics.
Barnes vs. Barnes will be a great game, but I think Barnes Jr.'s team is ready to take it all the way.
Me thinks that Tesoro is one and done. Sorry.

Unfortunately this is the year Sunset goes 0-3 in the 1st round. SCL will be 2-0 against Sunset.

I think the San Clemente Tritons will do it! Has anyone seen their QB, Duke Dilancilotti? His dead-on passing is so accurate it's scary. Every time he passes the ball, their announcer proclaims, "Good for another Triton FIRST-down!" Beware, all contenders!

Im looking for cyress to do well in CIF. They will play with added force on there side losing quarterback Max Reza, to internal bleeding lets go cypress.

tesoro is for real. if their offensive line plays extremely well and their defense plays up to its capability, tesoro will have a good chance to beat mater dei, notre dame and maybe even poly.....that's IF! good luck to all teams!
Lotta great teams out there this year. Anything can happen on any night, second round shakeout will tell the tale. Let's hope an OC team goes all the way.

I think the SCL will fare well with their three representitives. I don't think the Trinity is as good as years past.
Some one will have to TAKE the title from POLY!!!

It was in the paper that one player used them, and he turned in others, so it's not like new news, dude.
The playoffs IMO are wide open. I have not seen Poly or the Moore teams.
I have seen most of the others either live or on TV.
IMO--Tesoro is a good team but can be beaten by one of the other OC teams. Doesnt anyone recall that SC had the ball on the Tesoro 15 with about a foot to make the first down, with 1:19 left in the game. If, and it is a big "IF", SC scores and wins that game(they lost 28-23) the opinions on Tesoro and the rankings drop as much as the stockmarket has recently. Maybe that was a turning point for Tesoro in a chamionship season? maybe they arent as good as some think? Maybe SC is better than some think?

I cant believe there has been no articles written about the ridiculous system used to determine the fate of the the Sunset league playoff reps.
Newport Harbor is the only team in that league that has played well the past three weeks; waxing a weak Esperanza team 35-6 (the 6 pts were scored in 4th quarter on Harbors 3rd team D), crushing Marina (who esperanza beat by 3), and beating Los Al @ Los Al by overcoming a -3 turnover margin and putting together a game winning drive. Newport didn't punt the entire game by the way.
This was a unique situation with the 5 way tie for first place, so a unique solution should have been implemented. At least let all 5 teams get a chance at applying for the at large bid. If the committee truely believes that esperanza was the best team in the league and Harbor was 5th, then disregard this rant.
It's a shame that the team playing the best football at the end of the season doesn't even get a chance to represent the league. Isn't that why we have a playoff system in HS? Is this the BCS? No wait, if this were the BCS then Harbor would have at the very least been the 3 seed in the Sunset.
I predict that all Sunset teams get beat convincingly in the first round, not because the league is weak, but because Harbor is the only team playing good football at this point in the season.
The only teams that deserved to be left out were Edison and Los Al. They were the only team that had a chance to control their own playoff fate and blew in front of their home crowds. Esperanza and Foutain valley will be wishing that they DIDN'T get randomly selected to the playoffs when they're getting blown out by their first round opponents.
Let there be no doubt. The winner of the PAC 5 will come from the Trinity League. Too bad Edison got bumped. They played the best out there and deserved to be in the playoffs over Bishop Amat. The Serra league was stronger than the sunset but Edison held there own against even stonger Trinity league opponents. Hard to figure the thinking on this one.

Trinity is best league in PAC-5. Sunset and and South Coast suck. Moore is only good because of Poly and Notre Dame. Mater Dei is the best team in Trinity. Poly is best team in Pac-5. Newport should be in over Bishop Amat. Newport could beat Amat any day. Should'nt that be the deciding factor. Newport beat Edison so Edison should not be considered for at-large bid.

THS fan, now tht you have finally let the cat out of the bag from the THS sideline, the paper, and several blogs stated that your football player suspended for the steroid use, and that turned in all of the other team players was on your sideline during the Tesoro vs. MV game, ask around you should easily verify this info. Also, the media stated that the names of the players was given out and that neither the school, nor the team ever even looked into it or had them tested. I'm just saying what was printed in the media and on the blogs. I have NO personal knowledge or information, so I am only going by what you all are saying. So, would you kindly find everything out and enlighten the rest of us?
May every team play fair, play hard and play with integrity and morals. May all who play give it their best and come out with the satisfaction of knowing they left everything out on the field. GOOD LUCK TEAMS!
Why MD or Tesoro can't win; MD can't win becuase they won't get past OLU or Notre Dame. Tesoro can't win because they are Tesoro:)
I know they are undefeated but who have they played??? Please don't mention MV, because they will be eliminated 1st or 2nd round and have been over-rated the whole year. They have 3 good players and that's it.
Servite is the only one who has a chance; hear me out, the reason why I say this is because they only lost to Notre Dame by 1 TD and they almost came back and won but ran out of clock. Servite also beat OLU and has this uncanny way of playing them and winning. So we are left with the big question; can they beat Long Beach Poly? Absolutely, they proved that they can and will prove it again. I hate to say it but all LA teams are the same, punch them in the mouth and they get so angry they start fighting against themselves and that's what Servites Defense does, they punch people in the mouth. OC get ready for your 2008 CIF/State Champs- "Servite High"...

Tesoro has played no one and has one of the weakest schedules in OC. They will not make it past the 1st or 2nd round.

Why do you keep talking about THS. I thought you never think about us. Truth is, you have been thinking of us since we took the title from you last year.
I have been a parent of MD athletes for years and I'm still waiting for someone to introduce me to anyone who has been RECRUITED! Get over it! We go to MD because it is an excellent Catholic, academic school. Good luck to all the teams!

The poll needed one more choice: none. I don't see capable of beating both Poly and Notre Dame in the same year.
MD does not need to recruit. The program attracts the athletes, not the other way around. Joe and many others talk like if our players are studs as soon as they get to MD. Barkley and any other star on the team have developed into great football players, which is a testament to the program and coaches. The same goes for any other great player from the past. I know plenty of kids in Santa Ana who already want to play for MD and Rollo. The siblings and other young family members/family friends of current players/MD alum reload the program with new talent each year as well, so that is crap if you think we get to the playoffs each year because you believe we recruit.

I am so sick and tired of hearing who deserved to be in the playoffs and who didn't from the sunset league. The fact of the matter is that 5 of the 6 teams with the same record. And while it may gave been luck or whatever you want to call it that Esperanza, Los Al and Fountain Valley got to go, had there not been a tie in the first place, no one would have had to rely on luck!!
By the way, Esperanza did not get blown out in the first round nor did they get beat convincingly. They went out and played their best. And that is saying a lot since four of them lost their homes in last week's fire!! And even if they do lose to Poly, we could not be prouder of our AZTECS!!!

If they don't win against Poly, I expect that they, like Bishop Amat, will give the Jackrabbits one hell of a battle. It will be a war between two great defenses and if you frustrate Poly, there players have a tendency to rack up the penalties. If the Aztecs play clean and give them some surprises on offense, I believe they can come out with the win.
