When it comes to football this year, nothing has been in the bag. I have had one of the most entertaining years monitoring this site and traveling to games out there as ever. Traditional power house programs are all present with some disappointments and new arrivals. Playoffs are the 2nd season! Win or go home and that's it. Coaches who are able to reach the kids get results. PAC 5 football represents the elite programs. More Div 1 players out of this division than any other in OC. I am looking forward to Friday night. Rivals has two programs out here ranked in the top 50 that I would say could play with the PAC5 playoff teams; Scottsdale Saguaro, and Chandler Hamilton. Expect Poly to win out because for those kids it is tradition and a gateway to opportunity. After week one of playoffs we will see if the Trinity League is as strong as it is believed to be by who survives first round. Good Luck and remember - WIN OR GO HOME!!

Tony W, I guess you have not been watching the games FV have played, if you had you would know that they are not a one man team and they can't help it if they have one of the best RB's in the county. Kyle knows all about O'Lu, he played with most of the boys on that team when he played on Carson's Jr.All American team. he also knows them from the track club he ran with in Compton. You know nothing about Fountain Valleys football team, I can say the same thing you said about O'LU. Foutain Valley is underrated, improving, very banded together, football TEAM! Oh yea and if you ever followed Fountain Valley you would know that they do not try to run up scores on anybody. A true class outfit,a true class team ,and a true class coaching staff . How you like that?

Emily- You're more articulate than some of us that happen to be a "few" years older than you...ahem. Especially as a sophomore in h.s. Must be that orange county public education..yikes, that will stir the pot! Here's my advice, skip Twilight, it will still be there the week after. FV may lose and not have a playoff run for a long time.

And, no need to apologize, no offense taken. Enjoy your football teams success.

Zev - Thanks, ahah. But yeah, I really am a student (sophomore actually), and lately all this football stuff has been really interesting to me. Ask my friends, I got all hyped up over the weekend because we made playoffs, lol. Still debating on whether or not I should ditch my friends and not watch Twilight in order to watch us play against Orange Lutheran this Friday, since we haven't gone to CIFs since 2004.

Ahh, sorry, I didn't really mean everyone here were moms and dads, it just seemed like there were a lot of them (ex. BaronDad, TesoroGrandma). (:

I’m amazed at the vitriol that comes out in the “private schools have all the advantages” whining that is so prevalent in the OC. It’s a fact that public schools have always had a significant advantage, what with taxpayer millions, state financed facilities, and local community support for decades and decades. Only recently has a small fraction of elite private schools been able to compete against the overwhelming advantages of much bigger public schools with their larger enrollments, acres and acres of practice fields and publicly financed stadiums.

For every Servite, Mater Dei, and even latecomer OLU, there are hundreds of tiny private schools, barely able to recruit (yes, they have to recruit all their students because the local public school is free) enough students to pay the bills, and even field a team, or a band, etc. Look at the lower level basketball playoffs and you will always see most of the games played at YMCA’s and parks, because most of the schools don’t even have a gym, let alone the two gyms that most public schools have.

For every Oaks Christian and St. Margaret’s that have been successful in raising a few million dollars here or there for facilities, there are dozens of private schools that can’t charge enough tuition to pay their teachers (2/3 what the public teachers get btw) or else most of their clientele won’t be able to afford to attend.

With the state opening charter schools and magnets everywhere, these private schools face tremendous competition now, and often just hope to be able to offer competitive athletic programs to give their kids a well-rounded experience. Last year I heard that Port of Los Angeles Charter high school finally got their $17.5 million check from the state – and their administrators were upset because it took so long and they had to wait nine months for it! Wow! I can feel their pain.

Having been a H.S. and college coach in Illinois, Neb, as well as Calif. I can sympathize with those who think the transfer rules should be tightened, but then again, how ridiculous is it that in America, “Land of the Free” the gov’t can tell you where you have to go to school!

hey triton!

The aztecs have an AMAZING defense. in my mind there defense is the most underrated in the league. the aztecs have a great running game in drew hundsfelt and jared moore. they also use sean mcdonald as well. all three of them are amazing runners that are versitile and will dominate their gap. They do need to work on their passing game but its not bad at all. hayden peirce is great WR and they should also give some attention to him.

on the defensive side they have some of the nastiest LBs. dane poole is an animal that can cover play 1-1 and tackle like a beast. sean avila is their nose tackle that is amazingly fast and can tackle in the back field.

coack kemp (there defensie coordinater) has prepared this defense since the summer.

The offense needs to pick up there passing game and stop making turnovers.

hope that helps!
