FULLERTON -- Junior running back Joseph Hill racked up 272 on 27 carries and scored five touchdowns as Fullerton won its regular-season finale, 55-21, in a Freeway League matchup against Troy (3-7, 2-3) Thursday night at Fullerton High.
Hill’s first touchdown came with 10:54 left in the first quarter on a 29-yard run. He scored again with 53-yard run with 11:02 left in the second quarter and gained 162 yards in the first half of play as Fullerton led, 35-7.
In the third quarter, Hill added to his total by scoring his third touchdown, a 6-yard run to put the Indians (8-2, 4-1) up, 42-14.
Hill’s great night continued in the fourth quarter with two long touchdown runs.
With 9:57 left in the fourth quarter, he broke off 50-yard run and with 3:43 left on the clock, his final score was a 48-yard run.
Fullerton quarterback Dominic Ficociello completed 11 of 15 passes with a touchdown and an interception.
great to focus on one player but how did he get in the place for his first score? a interception by anthony chavez and than how did the second touchdown get scored? by jon lindsey who intercepted the ball and took it back for 6. and i mite add he also had a receiving touchdown on a fourth down play but besides that..
GREAT JOB INDIANS
get them in the play offs!
why didnt allian play?
Where was Allain #24? Is he hurt or not eligible?
Hill is going to be a an awesome running back for the Tribe next year. It's unfortunate that he wasn't implemented into the offense more frequently this year. Fullerton could have had some two back sets with Allain and Hill in. A formation like that could have helped in the La Habra game last week, since they had eight defenders in the box the entire game.
Hill by far is a more natural running back than Allain. His effort, vision, and ability to read lanes is far superior. Can't wait until next year!
Fullerton always says oh i cant wait till next year! lol thats funny hahahaha they didnt have 8 guys in the box. were u even at the game. i think he didnt play because he got a beating!
As of matter of fact I was at the game, watching from the sideline. In case you haven't been watching football, a running back does take a beating during the course of the year. Especially when the offense is based on running the ball 35-40 times a game. So to say that he took a beating is not the truth. Any running back who has carried the ball that much on any team, in any division over the course of a season is going to take a beating physically.
With regards to the 8 man in the box strategy La Habra used in the previous week. They did have 8 in the box, because the weak side defensive back was no more than 8 yards off the ball. With there being no imminent threat of Fullerton throwing the ball, La Habra did stack the box more often than not.
so why didnt he play last game????
Tell Me That!!!
hs fan#2 - Why do you give a shite if he played or not? Doesn't matter if he played or not, our 2nd back ran for 5 TD's and 270+ yards. It was Troy for God's sake, not an actual football team. If you are trying to get your ego stroked as in "oh, we hurt him last week..." he could have certainly played, but CIF is coming up and the coaches decided to rest him. Go back to your little "look at me, I'm a La Habra groupie wannabe" board and talk your smack over there.
It was a simple question to answer, and I don't think anyone is talking smack. There are Fullerton fans that submit worse entries, so quit trying salvage your sad Fullerton team's reputation, you gotta earn respect to get!
I don't believe an overall record of 8-2 is a sad reputation. The Fullerton program has always conducted itself in a respectful manner and doesn't need to earn anyones respect to solidify its success over the years. Its high school football, relax!
Why is it that blogs and message boards get so personal? All we are here to do is to post our opinions and hopefully actual facts from the games we have observed. Some may have more insight than others, but if you want to get personal and open your mouth, go to bar and start it there. I'm sure those persons will get a warm welcome.
I have watched Fullerton football for years now, and I am not gonna lie, but last night was probably the dirtiest game I have ever seen at that school. What I would like to know is what are the coaches teaching these players? In the first quarter alone the Indians had a number of personal fouls, a number that souldnt even be reached during an entire game! I could not even count the number of times the refs let many of these calls go, the Indians could have racked up and additional larger number of penalty yards if the refs would have been calling them. I am ashamed of Fullerton after watching that game last night, with their grave dirty playing tactics, and I applaud Troy for putting up with that crap, eventhough they retailiated on some plays. I hope Fullerton gets theirs in the playoffs.
He was sick alright, just like our quarter back last week who had a102 fever at game time and was puking his guts up, same thing. Man you LH groupies are pathetic. It is fun to watch you lose sleep wishing you could be the winningest football program in Orange County history like Fullerton though. OH NEWS FLASH!! You aren't even in the top 20. HOHOHOHOHO
No an 8-2 record isn't what gives Fullerton a sad reputation, what does is a team that plays dirty and their obnoxious fans and according to most of the entries I read, one Fullerton fan or another is whining for respect. I don't see many or any postings pullin' for Fullerton. Maybe if they did conduct themselves in a respectful manner things would be different. It is high school football, no need for me to relax, I'm cool. You just need to not take messages so personal.
Yes, I agree there were some personal foul penalties that occured throughout the game. Let's remember that there are three high schools in Fullerton that all play in the same league. Most of these kids that attend different high school within the city, grew up together, went to the same elementary, middle school, and most likely played youth sports together. The intensity is going to be turned up a few notches for these games. Lets not forget to mention that these are teenage boys who don't always have the best control of their emotions.
I know for sure that the coaching staff was reminding these kids to keep their emotions in check. Don't be mislead or assume the coaching staff condones that type of behavior, because that's not true at all. If you've dealt with teenagers before you know there's a good chance they aren't going to listen all the time.
not happy - If you have TRULY watched Indian football for "many years" now...then certainly you realize that there is just a little bit of "recent" history between the two schools...if there were any "liberties" taken last night, I'm quite certain it had to do with many Troy football players suddenly becoming La Habra fans after last season, and taunting the Fullerton players AFTER the CIF championship game at Eddie West. These same Troy players said they "were supporting the Freeway league" in a news article, but not a single one made it to the Sonora CIF game last year to "support" them. These same Troy players who walked the sideline of La Habra's games in CIF last year. Right or wrong, what happened to Troy last year was NOT THE FULLERTON KIDS FAULT and it bothered the Fullerton players that these same kids who grew up playing pop warner together, going to the same schools, were now taunting them. So, as they say, what goes around, comes around. Is this going to last a long period of time, no it won't. When a certain Troy loudmouth parent and his son graduate (and both sides know who he is), this won't be a problem. There were many boys on the Fullerton team who circled this game on the schedule. I wholeheartedly agree with IndianAlum, the coaching staff DOES NOT condone what happens with penalties, but understands emotion.
Stop making excuses. Fullerton has no discipline.
I was also in attendance at last night's game, but mostly to see my senior grand-daughter cheerlead at possibly her last football game. The yellow flags were flying so often that I thought a hockey game was breaking-out, and I noticed a few more penalties that were not called. I am all for a friendly cross-town rivalry but I think this game pushed the envelope. Sometimes in the spirit of competition it is possible to forget that it's also how you play the game that determines the winner in the final outcome.
To Tomahawk, THANK YOU!
Perhaps when that certain loudmouth Troy parent graduates (and we all know who it is) maybe we can then all be friends again but unfotunately there is a younger son coming up!
I totally agree Red. It is unfortunate that more people around the league don't understand what an idiot this guy is. If it weren't for him none of this ( and I mean none of this! ) would have happened. I feel bad for his kids though because even they know he is the most hated man in Fullerton and probably the Freeway league. Nice legacy to leave behind, to know you personally started all this hatred, only for it to come back to you. All you outside bloggers that chime in really have no idea, but all us parents and yhe kids from both schools know ( that doesn't include you over @ La Habra ). La Habra people unfotunately got caught up in this guys crap.
Who won the Freshman game between Troy and Fullerton? A fan told me Troy had more players on their squad and were a little better. Is Troy getting more kids?
Troy won. Looks like they have a great bunch of kids for the future.
Troy smoked Fullerton pretty good, "a whole bunch to nothing". My understanding is that they had a very good freshman season finishing second to LH. For what its worth, the Fullerton freshman team lost a bunch of starters due to grades.
Thanks fellas,,,,,
Looks like grades are an issue for a lot of teenagers. Sad......
