ANAHEIM — For the first time in 23 years, Magnolia is going to the playoffs.

With a hard-fought, 28-17 victory over Anaheim, the Sentinels (6-4, 4-1) secured one of three Orange League playoff berths with an impassioned performance from — who else? — Robert Cruz. (Full game stats.)

Magnolia trailed, 10-7, at the half as Anaheim (5-5, 2-3) took control early behind the passing of quarterback Luis Reyna. But Cruz put his team on his back in the second half.

The Sentinels senior captain ran for 189 of his 270 yards and three of his four scores after Reyna put Anaheim up, 17-7, to start the second half.

“It’s a blessing to finally, after all these years, be able to put it together,” Cruz said, fighting back tears.

“We came out a little shallow at first but we came together. The five up front kept it going and kept pushing and pushing, and that’s what led to it all.”

Yeah Cruz did an outstanding job finally bringing his team into the play-offs!!!!! Hope to watch him play on Saturdays!!!!!!!!!
But one player cant make much of a difference in the play-offs when their are teams that have more playmakers.
After this Cinderella season for the Sentinels, they are going to have yet another drought and will not make it 2 the play-offs for decades to come.
