Here are Steve Fryer's teams 21-25:

21. Canyon (5-4): The Comanches are in contention for a playoff berth in the Century League, with a 3-2 league record. But those two of their three league victories are against 1-8 teams, Brea Olinda and El Modena. They play Villa Park on Thursday.

22. Corona del Mar (7-2): The Sea Kings had a bye last week. A playoff berth is on the line Friday when Corona del Mar plays Beckman. Whoever wins that game has a playoff berth locked up. The loser will be cheering for University to beat Irvine.

23. Valencia (7-2): The Tigers beat Kennedy in a game that was surprisingly one-sided, 31-12. Valencia has a playoff berth wrapped up. They play Loara this week. The outcome of the Cypress-Pacifica game will affect whether Valencia opens the Southwest Division playoffs with a home game or an away game.

24. Irvine (6-3): They fell behind early and quickly, but the Vaqueros caught up to Laguna Hills and made the Hawks work for their 20-13 victory. Irvine is in contention for a playoff berth, and would clinch one with a victory over University. Irvine lost to University, 14-13, in a nonleague game on Sept. 5.

25. St. Margaret's (9-0): Another game, another one-sided victory for the Tartans who beat Capistrano Valley Christian, 72-0. That is their sixth shutout. The county single-season varsity football record for shutouts – nine, by Villa Park in 1981.
