Here are Steve Fryer's teams 11-15:

(Click on the team names to see season totals.)

11. La Habra (7-2): The Highlanders' 24-7 victory over Fullerton really should not have surprised anybody. The Highlanders are a complete team, and the best team in the CIF-Southern Section Southwest Division. After being ranked No. 3 in the division for weeks, the victory over Fullerton moved the Highlanders up – but only to No. 2 The new No. 1 is Foothill, which replaced Fullerton in the top spot.

12. Esperanza (6-3): The Aztecs lost in the final minute to Los Alamitos, 22-21. Their record in games decided by three points or fewer: 4-2. Esperanza can qualify for the playoffs but needs some help in the week's other Sunset League games. That three-point victory over Fountain Valley could turn out to be very significant.

13. Dana Hills (5-4): The Dolphins have their dorsal fins against the wall. They can make the playoffs if they beat undefeated Tesoro – Tesoro likely would have to look past Dana Hills and toward to the playoffs to help make that happen – and for winless Aliso Niguel to upset San Clemente.

14. Laguna Hills (9-0): The Hawks concluded the regular season with a 20-13 victory over Irvine. Laguna Hills has a bye this week, then will go to the Southern Division as the division's top-seded team. This is the first varsity football team in Laguna Hills history to go undefeated in the regular season. The school opened in 1979.

15. Foothill (8-1): The Knights routed Northwood, 56-28, to clinch at least a share of the Sea View League championship. Foothill concludes the regular season against El Toro on Friday. The Knights might be the toughest county challenger to La Habra in the Southwest Division.

Laguna Hills went 9-0 in 1996 before losing to Aliso Niguel, 28-21 in the PCL's game ten. Aliso still remains as CUSD's only varsity football team to go undefeated (14-0). The Hawks returned in 1997 to win the Division VIII championship against La Mirada.

oh yea, but esperanza was routed by newport harbor the week before.
and they are ranked in front of laguna hills' defense???

  • 2509 says:

well hiramv apparently a perfect season and an almost guaranteed #1 seed in the southern division counts for nothing when ur a small school.... sure dana and esperanza play bigger schools but a loss is a loss. and if both teams lose they should drop in ranking not maintain the same spot. laguna hills did nothing but win this whole season and i saw nothing but their ranking stay the same and even worse drop. i agree with you hiramv laguna hills deserves atleast the 12th spot and thats at the very least.

  • hiramv says:

a few more points.... newport harbor and laguna hills beat a good corona del mar team by similar scores, 42-13 and 34-7. the sailors demolished esperanza 35-6.

i agree that laguna hills needs to schedule a top 10 team to start getting any sort of respect. with that being said, i hope coach ingalls calls esperanza for an early match up next year.

  • Football fan says:

How is it that La Habra ranked 11 in the county but only 2nd in the southwest. And Foothill is ranked 15th in the county and ranked 1rst in the southwest?

  • 176786 says:

    ya explain that
plz i think that foothill should be ranked higher

  • tk says:

seriously la habra doesnt get a break...at all...they beat the number one team in thier division and get only bumped up to second and still number 11. hmm...its okay eventually the highlanders will be up there. CLAN PRIDE.

  • hiramv says:

can somebody find out why laguna hills has 9 games on the schedule the last two years?
