Here's a team-by-team look at the Trinity League:
(Click on a team name to see season totals.)
Servite (7-3, 4-1): OLu, Mater Dei and Servite share the league title and are in the playoffs. Coin flips were held at Servite on Saturday morning to determine playoff position and here is how they went down:
Mater Dei (7-3, 4-1): The Monarchs are in the playoffs as the league's No. 2 representative.
Orange Lutheran (8-2, 4-1): The Lancers are in the playoffs as the league's No. 3 representative.
St. John Bosco (7-3, 2-3): The Braves are eligible to petition for an at-large berth.
Santa Margarita (3-7, 1-4): The playoffs are out of the picture this season.
JSerra (5-5, 0-5): The Lions are eligible to petition for an at-large, but they don't have the kind of quality victories to have a shot at the Pac-5's lone at-large berth.
Note: With one at-large berth in Pac-5, it's a better idea to finish in the top three spots rather than trying to beat out a Serra, Sunset or South League team.
MORE PLAYOFF PICTURE BREAKDOWN:
Servite beats Bosco, OLU beats MD, MD beats Bosco; once again 3-way tie. Coin flip, Servite wins and gets #1 seat; Servite kicks butt first two games of CIF, 3rd round high intensity game against someone who they lost to earlier this year, Servite wins. Go into CIF finals first time in Thomas's history with Servite- Servite CIF Champs, beat whoever they play for State Championship...
Why not?
why not? I will tell you why not! They don't have Dj Shoemate, or Kahli the big left tackle. that's why!!!!!!!!!
If Santa Margarita wins tonight and next week, and Mater Dei and Servite also win their next two games doesn't that make it a three way tie for third resulting in a coin toss?
Are you serious about SM???
No really.....are you????
Regardless if I'm serious or not the facts are facts, am I wrong?
Understand the facts...just thrown by adding SM into the mix.
Stranger things have happened in the Trinity League!
Go Servite! Make the FriarFanWish list come true!!!!
Deefend my dear friend, have you not seen the talent on this years team? I don't look at not having DJ as a minus but a plus. I say that not because DJ wasn't a STUD, but because we have a "True Spread Offense" this year. Servite has 6 players on the field at all times who can catch the long ball and/or a short slant. Out of those 6- 5 of them could also be very dangerous like a catching running back. As far as Khalil goes, give me a break! Servite's line (both sides) is far more advanced then last year. We are bigger, faster, and smarter... Yes, we would love to have DJ and/or Khalil but if you honestly look at the team as a whole- "Much better this year", and that's why...
The Samoan kid at Servite is a Stud, I don't know his name but he's a beast. Hope he has the grades to take his skills to the next level...It would be nice to see him at USC with the other Servite kids...
At this point, I'm rooting Trinity League. I hope all of these schools go as far as they can. My fantasy is for my son's school, O Lu, to meet up with either Mater Dei or Servite in the semi-finals--and win, of course!
That Samoan Kid is Kirifi Leuta-Taula, a transfer out of Orange Lu. Doing very well in school with a 3.3gpa. he has no problem in the class room. he just need to stay focus stay healthy and believe in the good Lord. I now this kid very well. Very humble and talented. I talk to him last night about school of choice and this is what he had a say. He wantsa go toUSC but if they don't offer him a full ride befor this season is over for Servite, then he'll wait for a offer from some other school during his senior year and USC will be out of the question. Overall Kid is awsome and will do well.
I have been a Mater Dei fan since John Huarte was their Q.B.
(a long time). I wish them well in the playoffs and will be pulling for them all the way. But I have to say that right now I don't think much of their chances. Barkley has not been sharp the past two games Mater Dei has played. Rollison has been way to conservative in calling the plays. OLU pulled out the stops with a flea flicker, fake punt and going for it on 4th down 5 or 6 times. Mater Dei would probably beat OLU in a rematch but unless Barkley catches on fire they would probably not beat Servite again. If Mater Dei does not pick up their game they may not get past L.B. Jordan. Let's see what M.D. team shows up against Jordan.
Agree with you Jim H. MD doesn't have the horses up front like in years past. Barkley has good skilled players around him, but not great. Still nobody can motivate and make players believe like Rollison.
Kirifi is the 275 pound fullback and defensive tackle that can take a guard pick them up and throw them into the quarterback. #42, V-Dog you must be his dad.
Yup, I'm Daddy. and very proud of him. Next year will bring the Samoanbeef out from the beast. 9 month of hard training and the Lord on his side will be a whole new level of football from Taula#75,#42,#97,#13 or maybe #1, it doesn't matter what # he wears all you hear is Kirifi Taula.
