Here's a team-by-team look at the Golden West League:
(Click on a team name to see season totals.)
Westminster (7-3, 5-0): The Lions clinched the league title outright with a victory over Ocean View on Thursday. Westminster has won 27 consecutive league games and five consecutive league titles.
Santa Ana (7-3, 4-1): Santa Ana is the league's No. 2 representative.
Segerstrom (6-4, 3-2): The Jags clinched third place after knocking off Saddleback.
Orange (3-7, 2-3): The Panthers were eliminated from playoff contention by Santa Ana on Friday.
Ocean View (4-6, 1-4): The Seahawks are out of the playoff hunt.
Saddleback (0-10, 0-5): The Roadrunners are out of the playoff hunt.
Note: There are no at-large playoff berths in the Southern Division, so Golden West League teams need to finish in the top three to qualify.
MORE PLAYOFF PICTURE BREAKDOWNS:
Thanks for the update, Los. I'm finally checking out the Lions tonight. It will be interesting to see if they letdown after that big win over Segerstrom or just keep rolling. I'm also looking forward to watching Garbutt.
What do you make of Westminster's playoff chances?
"Action" Dan: What's up buddy. I think Westminster has a chance to go far in the Southern Division. Obviously, Laguna Hills is the favorite, but the Lions are for real. Garbutt is one of the better two-way players I've seen all season. You will be very impressed. Fire up the All-County radar. I think you will get some blips on Garbutt.
How funny would it be if Orange somehow beats Santa Ana and Segerstrom gets coin flipped right out of the playoffs
