Frankly Fryer: St. John Bosco vs. Mater Dei

ST. JOHN BOSCO OF BELLFLOWER (7-1, 2-1) VS. NO. 2 MATER DEI (6-2, 3-0)

Site, time: Santa Ana Stadium, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Outlook: This is going to be an entertaining game in the Trinity League. Bosco is led by a great quarterback, Keith Price, who has a terrific arm and is near-impossible to sack. Price, who committed to Washington, side-stepped and slipped out of so many sacks against Orange Lutheran two weeks ago. And he can run, too.

Mater Dei has achieved a run-pass balance many might not have expected, given the Monarchs’ quarterback is Matt Barkley, the top-rated quarterback in the country by almost every scouting publication and service. After sputtering a bit in the first half of the season, the Monarchs are playing their best football at the right time of season to do so.

Winner: Mater Dei
