Site, time: Garden Grove High, Friday, 7 p.m.

Outlook: Santiago coach Aaron Shahrestani is on your Frankly Fryer pal’s short list of coach of the year candidates. Santiago can be one of those schools where a coach faces all sorts of challenges never imagined by a coach at a big private school or a south-county school.

Garden Grove coach Ron Vander Sluis is doing another good job this season. The Argonauts have been consistent winners throughout his tenure. This is Garden Grove League game is a tough one to predict. Santiago is coming off of a three-point victory over La Quinta, a surprisingly close margin. Perhaps the Cavaliers looked past much-improved La Quinta, to this game. Garden Grove lost last week to another improved team, Los Amigos, by three.
