OCVarsity staff picks: Week 8 recap

November 3rd, 2008, 3:50 pm · 1 Comment · posted by Damian Calhoun, OCVarsity.com since 2004

Here is a recap of how the staff at OCVarsity.com fared in their weekly football picks contest. (Here's a hint:  Dan Albano had a rough week.)

Dan Albano, my hero, water polo guru and all-around great guy (I really mean that), went 2-6 last week. OUCH!

Jon Kay went 5-3 and moved out of last place. Yes, I'm shocked too.

Replacing Kay in last place is the Fight Doctor himself, Carlos Arias. He went 4-4 last week, but to his credit, he was the only person who picked Fountain Valley to upset Los Alamitos.

The San Francisco 49ers didn't play and therefore couldn't lose, but devoted fan Jason Eichelberger did. He went 3-5.

The winners of the week were Steve Fryer, Erlina Tulabut and myself. We all went 6-2.

Here are the standings (through week 8)

1. Fryer 44-20

2. Calhoun 43-21

3T. Albano, Eichelberger, Tulabut 39-25

6. Kay 38-26

7. Arias 37-27

Check back Thursday morning for the Week 9 lineup and picks.

Peace.

I'm letting my dog, Buster the one-eyed Jack Russell Terrier, pick this week's games. I'm throwing every strategy at the wall and seeing what sticks.
