  • Emily says:

Why is Edison listed twice? =/

  • BARON FAN says:

Edison is so good they made the top ten twice???

  • My mistake. I can’t blame this one on Fryer, but I might try.

  • bartholomew says:

barons will be ahead of edison after this week. sorry fry boy but your chargers are going down

  • Carol says:

FVHS rocks, bring on Edison–the game of the week!!!

  • Emily says:

Yay! I’m proud to say that I’m a Baron. :) Can’t believe we made the Top 10. The Bell Game is going to rock this year, I’m about to get my “war” paint tonight for the game, haha.

  • Bill says:

its funny how all of a sudden a bunch of FV people chime in. edisons offense is to good to be stopped by FVs defense. And edisons D will shut down Middlebrooks.
    Edison Wins 28-10

  • Tom O says:

Servite ahead of Edi and behind MD makes sense since early they beat & lost vs those teams but didn’t FV just beat Los Al? You beat a team this late and are 2 spots behind them? Did La Habra do something wrong? They win by 33 and get punked? Why not co-#10′s? Have only seen SC league on TV so can’t judge but teams I’ve seen live OLu & Servite would bludgeon top Sunset teams.

  • so barons beat los al but thier behind them!?

i wonder what happens after they beat edison.

  • baron man says:

we just beat los al and edison about to get messed up on friday. i feel sorry for matt viles because fvs crazy d line is coming after him just ask clark evans!!!!!!!

  • superstar53 says:

don’t complain about being behind a team if you beat them becuase that is all over in both trinity and sunset leagues…edison beat Mater Dei, Los Al beat Edison…give it two more weeks and you’ll have a couple more of those too. FV still has to prove itself with a good game against Edison. FV’s d line isn’t that great either, Los Al just has a weak o line, it has nothing to do with clark evans.

  • Gus says:

Tesoro #1? Their weak schedule will catch up to them come CIF playoffs…..again! What a cupcake schedule. They would be a fourth place team in the Serra League.

  • justaguyinoc says:

I am not a Tesoro fan, but they did KILL MV, FV, and beat my Tritons. They did also schedule El Dorado, who turned out to be horrible. They haven’t lost a game yet. Just like Alabama and PSU in college. Do I think they are the two best college football teams? Heck no! But they have to be rewarded for what they did.

  • 69er says:

its funny how every week fv is expected to lose.
edison you got something coming for you.
    fv wins

  • A lot of people have heard about the Bell Game, but I would like to hear from people involved what it means for them?

  • Fealofani says:

The next two weeks will be the greatest football being played in Orange County. PAC-5 OC schools lets just say this everyone play out their schedules and head to the playoffs and knock off any Los Angeles County schools. Keep the PAC-5, and CIF Championships in Orange County.

Sunset League Champs 2008 – The Barons

  • this years game shouldnt be played at occ but in anahime staduim

  • PAC-5 Fan says:

Yes, lets keep the OC in the CIF playoffs. As far as FV, sorry but they are going to get hammered by Edison if they are healthy. I have seen Edison play and they are good. Tesoro beat MV, big whip? MV can’t beat most of the Top 10 County Teams; they are only listed because of their record? This is the real Top 10 (based on not only records but by ability, this will be proven in CIF):

    1. Servite
    2. Edison
    3. Orange Lutheran
    4. Mater Dei
    5. Tesoro
    6. Los Alamitos
    7. Fountain Valley
    8. Newport Harbor
    9. Mission Viejo
    10. San Clemente

Sorry, but La Habra would loose to every one of these guys. They are good but not that good. By the way, I have Servite #1 because I have seen all the top 5 teams play in person and they are by far the best. Yes, they got their butts handed to them by MD but believe me, MD will loose to OLU and maybe even Bosco this week. Servite will win their remaining games and will go deep into CIF. My prediction:

Servite vs. Long Beach Poly in CIF Championships-

    Winner- Servite by 10

  • scubamcdaddy says:

One wonders how anyone can object to Tesoro being ranked #1! They have beaten San Clemente, killed Fountain Valley, and absolutely destroyed Mission! They have never trailed at halftime and their record included wins over three of the top 10 teams.
True, maybe their true test will come against Dana Hills or during the playoffs, but at this point in time, no other team comes close to deserving the #1 spot.

  • Jerri says:

Whenever I think of football I think of players I think of fans I think of boosters and I think of alumni with lot’s of money. Don’t be fooled …remember behind every team on that top 10 there is a lot of financial support…you know and I know it. As a fan from La Habra keep in mind that were honored to make the Top 10 but if we don’t that ‘s okay. La Habra is just a group of boys from the neighborhood who want to play football and they play with HEART. Fight on Highlanders….

  • scubamcdaddy says:

Uhhhhh….Jerri, what in the world are you talking about? Tesoro was founded in 2001, with its first graduating class occuring in 2004. How many wealthy 22 year old alumni do you know?
I can tell you from personal experience, there are NO “wealthy alumni with lot’s (sic) of money” contributing to the Tesoro program.
Simply put, Tesoro is a new PUBLIC school with too many kids; but with very dedicated parents and a great coaching staff for the football program.
I congratulate the La Habra team for their success; but please, don’t assume that the success of other progams is due to an infusion of money! That assumption might apply to private schools, but certainly not Tesoro.

  • JOE says:

TO SCUBAMCDADDY,TESORO BEAT FV 29-14,IN THAT GAME WE LOST STARTING QB IN THE 1ST QUARTER,FOR THE YEAR,HE WAS ALSO ARE PUNTER.WE WERE DOWN BY 15 IN 4TH QUARTER BALL ON 35YARD LINE GOING IN FOR A SCORE. MIDDLEBROOKS GETS HURT WITH 6 MINUTES TO PLAY DOESNT COME BACK. WE WOULD SCORE IT WOULD BEEN 29-21.SO WE DIDNT LOOK AS BAD SCORE INDICATED.IF YOU LOST YOUR STARTING QB,& STAR RB,YOU MIGHT LOST THAT GAME. IM HUGE FV FAN BUT I GIVE EDISON CREDIT THEY PLAYING TOUGHEST SCHEDULE IN O.C. SUNSET LEAGUE IS TOUGHEST.FV CAN BEAT EDISON THIS YEAR WE HAVE LOTS TALENT.WE NOW HAVE QB CAN RUN& THROW.WE ALSO HAVE ON BEST RUNNING BACKS IN THE LEAGUE. ITS GOING COME DOWN TO PENALTIES & TURNOVERS. LETS GET THAT BELL BACK ITS BEEN 4 YEARS

  • scubamcdaddy says:

Joe, I’m not sure why you’re yelling, but I will respond as follows:

You’re right. Fountain Valley did suffer a lot of injuries that night when they faced Tesoro’s defense. But that said, doesn’t every team suffer their share of injuries? Tesoro’s best defender was injured the first play of the year against La Mirada and was out until the Mission game.
I’m willing to amend my earlier comment and merely point out that Tesoro “beat” Fountain Valley, rather than “killed” them. However, please remember that the scoreboard doesn’t lie.
Congraulations on having such a fine team. Middlebrooks is great, and your fans showed a lot of class following the Tesoro game.

  • Greendog says:

Tom O I am so tired of hearing how great the Trinity League is. You say Servite would “bludgeon” any top Sunset league team. You mentioned that MD beat Servite and what happened when MD played Edison? They lost! The fact is that both leagues are loaded as usual, and we won’t know until the end of the season who really is best. Servite will not make the finals, it will be Notre Dame Sherman Oaks and Poly. It breaks my heart to say it, but I don’t believe an OC team will make it.

  • JOE says:

SUBAMCDADDY,IM GLAD YOU ARE NOW AWARE FACTS LIKE I SAID.LOSE STARTING QB & STAR RB DOES EFFECT THE SCORE. I HAVE NEPHEW GOES TO TESORO .YOUR RIGHT SCORE BOARD WERE NOT LIKE THE LAHABRA FANS CRYING ABOUT LOS AL LOSS.HOW THEY SCHOULD BE IN TOP 10,&MONEY BRINGS BETTER PROGRAM.MAY WE SEE YOU IN THE PLAYOFFS. WE NEED TO BEAT EDISON TO GET IN.

  • we could just beat marina to get in also but id much rather beat edison.

ANYONE KNOW HOW MARINA IS DOING?

my jaw dropped when i heard they went in OT with esperanza when we lost to them.

  • Emily says:

^Not very hot, from what it seems from their league games. They lost all 3 (against Los Al, Esperanza, and Edison).

  • dc says:

I totally understand why La Habra was taken out, it sucks to see, but I think La Habra can hang with at some of these teams, so my question is if one of the bottom teams loses will La Habra be back in? I mean of course if they win, Fullerton isn’t a walk in the park, I think if they win his week they deserve top ten.

  • Tom O says:

    Dear Grrendog;
I’ve seen numerous games that both Trinty & Sunset big dogs have played in. Trinity is tougher – I’m sorry to say. When I went to Servite-Edi I sat on Edi’s side, and rooted. I’m a Sunset guy. I always want Sunset teams to win. I played in it, my kids went to Los AL. Just my opinion, but it’s based on watching lines, backers, schedules, etc. Trinty is better. In a 10 game round robin they go 6-4 or 7-3 vs. Sunset.
Servite probly won’t make the finals-offense isn’t varied enough. You’re right, but, I’m sure Servite would love to play Los Al (think Barnes flip flop), Espy shy about scheduling Trinty teams, too, only Edi has nerve to play anyone. I’d love another OC team to go face to face with Jackrabbits, but probly not this year.

  • sgtgentlman says:

North Orange County gets no respect. It is the same in all sports.

  • wammyy says:

im sorry to say this but fountain valley has one player…middlebrooks. Keep him coraled and you win the football game.

  • Dear mr WAMMYy<

u have to go to the games to so ur opinion. the barons have a sound defense. and there offense has many weapons. the qb has stepped up and is making key plays. just wiat until friday when edidon gets smashed by fv. ull c wat kind of team they r.

  • BEAT edison chargers says:

wammyy you don’t know pip-squat about how big this game is in the Sunset League. The Barons are riding the momentum right now this late in the season it’s an advantage. Edison has arrogant has they are it will be their down fall.

Please infect every Charger fan with the doubt, they doubt their capabilities to execute with so much distraction…..and at the back of their minds they are saying…WHAT IF?

At practices this week, there are players concerned about what to do after the game. Someone is throwing a big celebration party….IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. It will be a wake…to mourn their loss.

Sunset League Champs 2008 – The BARONS

  • NEWS flash!! Barons Beat Edison says:

1-2 (viles) The DEFENSE is coming 4U
3-4 (viles) Better lock your door
5-6 (BARONS) Steadman gets a touchdown from a pick
7-8 (edison) at the end of the game it will be too late.
9-10 (edison) better luck next year (BARONS SUNSET LEAGUE CHAMPS – 2008)

My dedication song to the edison chargers and fans.

    Sincerely with LOVE,
    THE BARONS

  • greendog says:

I love the talk about FV. It is nice to have another team emerge as the season goes along. Having seen them play I will say that the team is Middlebrooks, but what is wrong with that. In high school football if a team has a dominant back they can surround him with some other good players and be very tough. Anybody remember Deshon Foster? But the QB for FV doesn’t scare anybody and there D is average. They have some very impressive wins and I am glad for their coach as I played with him at GWC. But make no mistake the team begins and ends with Middlebrooks.

  • gregg says:

DOES ANYBODY THINK ANY OC TEAM COULD PLAY WITH LB POLY OR CENTENNIAL CORONA ? PLEASE! TESORA AGAINST CENTENNIAL..NO WAY!! TOO MUCH SPEED AND WAY TOO PHYSICAL

  • John Ship says:

Kyle, are you feeling healthy for Friday? God, I hope so. You gotta keep me in this job for another year. Thanks, Shippy

  • Emily says:

^OMG Coach Shipp. :D You rock, haha.

  • Justanotherfan says:

    SERVITE BEAT POLY NOW WAY!!!!!!!!!
pac-5 your not that much of a pac-5 fan if you think servite can beat poly ur a servite fan theirs a differnece and honeslty servite has not impressed me at all this year so we will wait and see in the playoffs……

  • #87 says:

Emily if you believe thats coach shipp your wrong haha. Shipp doesn’t even call him Kyle, he calls him Sweet Pea. But whoever is pretending to be Shipp i’ve seen some of his other posts and they are pretty funny.

  • varsity04 says:

    to greendog:

    fv has an average defense?
they shut down the los al offense for an entire half and ot. r u gonna tell me los al is an average offense. greendog u dont get out much do u. so is mater dei the matt barkley show or is tesoro team preston. yeah every team has there star but fv has a rounded ofense and dominic ragland and the o line have stepped up and r gonna smash on edison.

Barons – sunset league champs- 08

  • yeah sure says:

    hey
“pac 5 fan”…can I have some of whatever your smoking???
Sevite is not #1 and if you’ve seen Poly play you’d know half of these top ten teams will beat them. You heard it hear 1st… Poly won’t even be in the final..neither will Servite for that matter. Speaking of overated why is Los Al in top 10? If they even make playoffs ..it’s one and done…sorry to say it cuz I hate ‘em but Mare Dei is #1…Newport Harbor top ten ???..can they even beat Laguna Hills?? you funny.

  • BHOUSEBABY says:

    GET EMMMMMMMMM

    SOOO TRUE ^

  • gregg says:

so if mater dei is number 1, Centennial must be #1 in the state…You are right they are and they are going to be even better next year and the year after. I hope some of these top 10 oc teams have the balls to schedule them…

  • hit em uppppp says:

tesoro is the only team to beat 3 top ten teams and is overall the most consistent week to week team. to beat them in the playoffs the opponet would have to play their A game. tesoro is jus to good on defense(7 total int’s against MV and SC and a season total of 2 int per game avg) and to consistent on offense(QB Robbie Picazo 19 tds- 2 ints)to beat. Tesoro is better then any sunset leauge team hands down (FV top complaining about injuries, tesoro was way more phsyical thats why all your players went down in your loss). stop disrespecting tesoro for not having the servite or md history, if you look at the facts and not the hype TESORO is easily #1

  • fan09 says:

tesoro is an overrated team. They scored 2 lucky tds on fv and that was the game changer. if they were to play fv again the score would be 35 to 14 fv . tesoro will loose first round of playoffs. who did they beat cuz mv is a bad team too. that hole league is average

  • hit em uppppp says:

tesoro whopped on fv get over it. they hurt all your best players ? its football

  • THANSEN says:

Poly is #1 They can beat Centennial.
Mater Dei is down this year, so is Servite in my opinion.
Servite played an ugly preseason schedule. Go look. Stop talking about how Edison stepped up by taking on the Trinty league. The Trinty has to beat the snot out of each other, then hop into playoffs. That is why they have a tough time making it thru the CIF playoffs.
It is a shame that one of those pwer house teams wont make the playoffs.

Los Al is over hyped. I havent seen Tesoro, so I wont comment. As far as alumni support. Rod Carew had his son over there. Dont tell us that money doesnt help. Private schools arent the only ones with fund raising. What about Los Al and the fact they are a district of one high school The district determines how much the head coach makes. You think Barnes is making $4 k a year coaching. He makes bank. He is god over there.

  • gregg says:

The problem with poly, thansen is they run, run, run,and centennial has the speed and size to stop them. You guys only score against the easy teams that everyone scores high on. Poly could never stop our offense, sorry, but true…

  • Emily says:

#87 – my bad, ahah. I was actually sorta confused if he was or not since Coach Shipp spells his name with 2 P’s instead of one.

Well anyways, even if it really was him or not, Coach Shipp is still bomb in my opinion. He was my PE teacher last year. :)

  • fan says:
