Here are Steve Fryer’s teams 16-20:
16. Tustin (5-3). The Tillers did so much right in a 49-21 victory over Villa Park. As they have been doing the past few weeks, they ran the ball well – Anthony Wilkerson rushed for 157 yards, Ameer Webb rushed for 122. Tustin committed no turnovers and no penalties. The Tillers are the only 3-0 team in the Century League.
17. Fullerton (7-1). Michael Allain had another big night in the Indians’ 41-7 victory over Sonora. He rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Allain is second in county rushing with 1,539 yards (Robert Cruz of Magnolia is the county rushing leader, with 1,973). Fullerton plays La Habra on Friday in a battle of the Freeway League’s two 3-0 teams.
18. Western (6-2). Ruben Ortega’s 22-yard touchdown run took the Pioneers to a 20-14 victory over Savanna. That was a closer game than expected. Western was 2-0 in league going into the game, and Savanna was 0-2. The Pioneers play Anaheim this week, Valley next week.
19. Santa Margarita (2-6). The Eagles were just about eliminated from the playoffs with a 57-28 loss to Mater Dei. They are 0-3 in league, with games remaining against Orange Lutheran and JSerra. Santa Margarita would need to beat Orange Lutheran this week, then next week it would have to beat JSerra (almost a sure thing) while Mater Dei beats Orange Lutheran (very possible) to finish in the top three in the Trinity League. If Santa Margarita is the league’s No. 4 or 5 team, it won’t have the .500-or-better overall record to qualify for the Pac-5 Division’s one at-large berth.
20. Cypress (5-3). A 35-7 victory over Loara kept the Centurions in first place in the Empire League, in which they are the only 3-0 team. They play 1-7 Katella this week, then conclude the league and regular season against 4-4 Pacifica. Considering how competitively close the Empire League is, 5-0 would be a fine accomplishment.

come on…. santa margarita at #16 at 2-6!!!! yes, they had a tough schedule this year but they did lose to foothill at home and were blown away in their other losses. i wish them luck and a better season next year but they are not a top 25 team this year. no matter how you try to justify your decision ( they could be a top team in this league and so on ),…….. a loss is a loss! 2-6 record does not cut it!
cypress is 5-3…not 4-4.
thank you.
Cypress is actually 5-3, 3-0 in empire league
