Here is a look at how I voted for the Week 9 football poll:

Three observations I made from my picks:
Despite losing in a classic overtime battle with Fountain Valley, Los Alamitos is one of the most talented teams in the county and it was hard for me to move them down. They didn’t play a bad game Friday, they just ran into an inspired Fountain Valley team that came alive in the second half and overtime.
Speaking of Fountain Valley, the Barons proved without a shadow of a doubt that they are one of the county’s best teams. The poise they showed in rallying to defeat the Griffins was quite impressive, and they should have a great deal of momentum heading into this week’s showdown with Edison.
Since losing to Edison on Oct. 3, Mater Dei is 3-0, outscoring its opponents 141-49. With games against St. John Bosco this week and Orange Lutheran next, the Monarchs have the opportinity to show that their early season struggles are firmly behind them.
