LAS FLORES — Tesoro’s Preston King opened the scoring with a 62-yard interception return for a touchdown, and the No. 1-ranked Titans rolled to a 42-0 victory over Capistrano Valley in South Coast League play Thursday night at Tesoro High.
The Titans are 8-0 overall and 3-0 in league; the Cougars are 3-5 and 1-2.
“We played well,” Titans coach Brian Barnes said. “We made some mistakes. We need to clean up our penalties. I thought Capo came out fired up. We just have to keep working.”
The Titans committed 10 penalties for 65 yards and turned the ball over twice, but did little else wrong. Tesoro forced six turnovers, including another pick by King.
Robbie Picazo connected with Brett Gudim for touchdown passes of 10, 6, and 19 yards in the second quarter and the Titans led, 35-0, at halftime.
With some starters out, Seth Davis scored on a 17-yard run in the third quarter to make it 42-0.
tesoro played very well last night.
all i can say is that the late hit that Capo commited against Tesoro was ABSOLUTLY UNCALLED FOR!!!
it definatly but a scare to us on the Tesoro side seeing our player roll on the ground like that.
I think that Capo needs to find other ways to take out their frustration!
that was a stupid comment. HAHAHAHA
“it definatly but a scare to us on the Tesoro side seeing our player roll on the ground like that” HAHAHAHA
this game was a joke tesoro will be bumped out of the number one spot in cif when they play better teams. And I hope MISSION get to play them again on a neutral field.
WOW MISSION WILL NEVER GIVE UP WILL THEY!!!
IT WASNT I CLOSE GAME MISSION…….GET OVER YOURSELF!!
Tesoro is on a roll this year and they are playing great
CONGRATS to the whole Tesoro team and especially Coach Barnes.
Good game!
Cant wait to see what you guys will bring to playoffs!!
Capo Sucks, only hit they made all night was the late one. Man your program has become a joke. What was once our rival, is now a walk in the park, 42-0 and Tesoro 2nd, 3rd & 4th string played most of the second half, and you still cant score, and if Barns did not have class, he could have put up another 28 easy, making it 70-0.
As for basketball, you wont get closer than 10 points in any game vs Tesoro, BOOK IT !!!!
its sad that high school sports has to deal with this type of talk… let the kids play, the ones who want to jeopardize their futures will get theirs and the ones who are smart will succeed. But as for now, why make yourselves look like people with absolutely no lives or respect? But once again, why not let the kids play?
GO TITANS!
NO TESORO PLAYER IS ON STEROIDS!!
Stop accusing if you don’t know!!
hey blah’sghost2,
don’t worry, tesoro will be able to compete, unlike mission did 2 weeks ago. by the way, what were those 2 mission players snorting in Hawaii ? never mind, they’re still on the team. oh ya, they’re your best players, can’t get rid of them, need them to win league, NOT !!!!
Fred Garvin
aren’t you the guy who played Herman Munster? I though you were dead, you were a pretty big guy. were you on the juice?
if Tesoro played CAPO anytime within 2000-2006 season they would have gotten crushed, as proven during our game in 06
every Highschool program has their down years, and for capo and aliso unfortountly its come now. Bottom line is Tesoro has never had a LB better than Ben Terry, a QB better than Maranovich, a HB better than Kory Kemmerer, or a WR better than Nick Hutter, get some players in D-1 football and in the Pro’s than start talking about a Legacy like CAPO’s. after these next couple of years Tesoro’s down time will come and Capo will dominate.
And as for Basketball we didint have a player over 5’11 as i recall and you guys had a few 7 footers and we still pulled of a win so dont even talk about basketball
Yes, CV Couger, every program has their lows. You have a history to be proud of! Just go out and support your boys! A SPORT is just that: SPORT! Enjoy it.
Look at Fountain Valley. They’ve had SO MANY down years, and now they’re celebrating a win over Los Al! I think it’s great for them and for varsity football!
Let the games be about dreams! The best coaches know that their teams are always vulnerable; every contest is unique.
But as our Luke Gane said, “Give it 100%, 100% of the time.
ROIDS have been part of football forever it will never change so leave it be just play the game. I played against all types of players natural, super sauce, etc. You’re either an athlete or you’re not roids only help what you already have and those who take it don’t have anything
CV Cougar, first of all 2006 was the only year you did or ever would have beat Tesoro, look at the 2004 and 2005 Tesoro teams… oh and by the way, ever heard of Sean Calcagnie because im pretty sure hes at USC or Scott McKnight, he starts at COLORADO
Hey CV Cougar Stop living in 06, ahh
Capo is a joke for everything especially football
We took out all you star players that game, have fun against Mission and San Clemente. hahah
Tesoro Wins CIF forshure
have*
Sean Calgagni = BUST, he will ride the SC bench for years to come haha and McKnight should just stick to killing and raping teachers.
You guys had 2 D-! players in that span bud, we had about 8-12 not to mention another handful starting at Saddleback JC. It has been said by several people Calcagni’s success was due to easy competition, did int he run the ball against like D-8 Christian schools that no ones ever heard of. and sorry to break it to you we own you guys in Basketball, no chance you guys will beat us with KC James on our side now
Tesoro recruits the players too! They tell the school district to say that they want to take Japenese. The coach told my son to say that.
Really? The coach told your son to say he wanted to take Japanese? Good thing TESORO DOESN’T OFFER A COURSE IN JAPANESE. Idiot. Don’t bash Tesoro, watch your mouth.
