Anaheim running back Mike Reyes, the Colonists’ leading rusher with 390 yards, likely will not play Friday against Orange League foe Century.
Reyes has a twisted knee, Colonists coach Lanny Booher said Tuesday. The senior tried to play last week in a loss to Santa Ana Valley but lasted one play, the coach said.
Reyes suffered the injury Oct. 2 in a nonleague victory against Loara.
Reyes’ health could be one of the key storylines for an interesting playoff race in the league.
Santa Ana Valley, tied with Western for first at 2-0, faces third-place Magnolia (1-1) is a huge game Friday
Magnolia is seeking its first playoff appearance since 1984.
Anaheim (1-1) is tied for third with Magnolia with games against Century, Magnolia and perennial favorite Western still on the schedule.
The Colonists likely need to win two for their final three games, and perhaps get a little help, to crack the top-three in league. Anaheim’s chance certainly improve with Reyes on the field.
